sorry guys - long time no see. Sadly i was grounded for a while, but I intend to be a LOT more active now. Since i was a bit out of practice, I decided to do a pretty simple fighter sprite. My main points of focus were color selection (without using PS to alter them afterwards), and character design. I'm really sluggish at making an original concept - thus, the Hang-Man was born.....still kinda crummy of a concept though. Oh well.

C+C on anything, but I really am looking forwards to advise on colors or character design.

Nice pose and shading but designwise hes like... uhm. The Hulk with a bit of Terry from KOF. :)
-
Haha, that's awesome. I really like the shading.
Maybe you could give him a grungy wifebeater with pit stains.
-
Maybe he should be dressed like a cowboy, considering the name.
-
He already is. he's a modern day cowboy. Heh.
-
Simple? I hate you....
I think he would look better with shoes
-
I like him, looks ready to kick ass :)
I made a lil edit colourwise and brought it down to 16 colours including transparency.

the ramps could be way more efficient. i made the darkest green and blue 1 colour also the orange on the buckle is now in the rope as well and slighly altered.
I also made the ramps less monohue to add depth and added small highlights using the yellow of the buckle a bit. also the greys and the belt colours basically all were wasted on your version. the belt colour was merged with the outline wich is now a dark greyish blue. As for the greys on the hat, in most cases pure greys look a bit mank because in real life they basically don't exist as that due to coloured light, so in this case sharing the blues seemed logical.
hope this helped.
cheers

Hang you well.

I like the green specs added in Helm and ptoing's edits. It might not fit with your style of shading, but I think it gives much more volume to the pec area, which seems kinda flat in your original. I think Helm's edit on the lower arm to our left works much better than your arm which looks cylindrical by comparison.

Hang you well.
I think the character seems more of the type that would use improper grammar. Therefore, "I'll hang you good!" is quite fitting. =)
