The texture is definitely interesting. One thing to incorporate it more into the piece though, would be to add texture to the side of the trunk - in the silhouette. Show where areas stick out. Otherwise it's flat, and looks fake.

Too much focus on texture instead of lighting imo.
Also has some AA issues.

So you're saying I need to add more texture to the left, darkest side? I'll see what I can do! :]

@Symbol, I don't really see any lighting issues atm, and it'd help if you told me where I needed to fix the AA.

Anyways, Jalonso helped me out a bit with the clouds and the other shrooms:

He also suggested adding a winding staircase that winds up the mushroom. Would that add some flavor to the piece or what? Thanks for all the comments.

Lighting wasn't the right word, I meant shading in general.

Also, it seems like you're using a similar texture on the clouds. Was this intentional?  :-X

It seems like there is a contrast problem between the red section and the first brown section to the left.  The highlights look blotchy to me and particularly square on the right side.  ..and I'm not sure what the white moon shape on the left is for.  Is it a spot on the mushroom? Too light, imo. Is it a highlight? Seems out of place.

The work on the lower shrooms looks really nice to me.

It's not a highlight, it's a blurb I left on there on accident. I really need to remove it. :P

Anyways, the cap is a heavy WIP, so thanks for the suggestions.

It is coming along great, the trunk looks incredible, has some great detail but it may need some more highlighting and shadowing to give it more depth or a feeling of roundness, the cap has great contrast on the other hand.

I cant wait to see the finished product.

Still haven't applied all the crits, but this is what I did last night with a little help and guidance from Jal.

Looking *really* nice Dex!  The only thing that bugs me now is that angular bend in the new section of the cap where it shifts out of the 45deg angle.  I really like the staircase!

Sorry man, my wording wasn't very clear. I mean to add ridges and bumps to the edges of the trunk, the 'silhouette' of it. At the moment it's very smooth. Hope that makes sense.

Oh, yes, I can add that!

Nice start, not sure about finished one. Cap shading doesn't justify it's shape - it shows on the ends it is bowled, but it is looks flat in the middle. Also color ramps has no connection between them which makes it look like it not related ob]ects placed on one canvas. Usually I don't mess with people's colors, take a look at edit, it is pretty sloppy but you maybe find something useful. Kill two colors in overall palette, made a darkest green less saturated to bridge between blue and red, drop some sky  colors on mashroom cap, play with a red rump (may ignore that)=)

I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally like what you did with the mushroom cap, man, but the stalk's colors, not so much. I'll see what I can do with the cap though :D
