Title: Halfling's Quest Sprites
Post by: CaKsTeR on August 30, 2008, 04:30:30 am
Here are some of the sprites that are being used for a game I'm making called Halfling's Quest. C&C on any of them would be welcomed.

Genth Duck

Pintul Fly

Regular Blob Stand

Regular Blob Run

Grass Tileset 1

Rock Tileset 1

Tree 1

That's all I've got to display for now. I may upload some lesser images later, but I doubt it. I know that the animations don't loop; I'll get to them eventually. And yes, the tree does suck. Thanks in advance for the C&C!  :)

Alrighty then, here's some crits for this as well.

It's a bit difficult to judge tilesets like this, you'd really have to build a small map so it'd be easier to see how all the tiles work together. No matter how good a single tile is, it's irrelevant if it doesn't fit in with the rest.

The monsters seem really two dimensional and too much seen from side view for something that's supposed to be either a Zelda -like view or an Ultima 5 -like view. Zelda -like, I'd guess.

Hue shift will always helps graphs like these.

The walking animation would be nice to see animating to get a better idea.

The tree's trunk seems totally flat, whereas the top seems like it's button like, a flat area rising above the background. Studiyng real life references and examples from other similar games would help a lot.

Alright. Firstly, It's a platformer. :-[

Secondly, I'll post some mockups in a bit, and I'll do the animations later.

I'll edit once I've finished. :)

I should mention that the backgrounds aren't the actual colours used in game.

A horrible attempt at breaking the grid.
