Pixelation

Hi guys; a couple of months ago I started this topic: http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=6049.0
Now, I've been working on that piece again, but I'm a little bit stuck.
I'm not quite sure about the lightsource, and the colors.
And I don't really know how to make it smooth.

All help is really appreciated. and err.. I'm not that good in English, so if you have the time to make a little edit of what you mean, it'll be very helpful.
