Yet again I saw Christians complaining on the news about the materialism of the holidays. A second later on the broadcast, they showed images of the pope gilded in golden robes. Isn't it ironic? Doncha Think?

/ Morissette Moment.

Nice to hear about the new Mac. :) I'm still stuck with old software, but I upgraded hardware a bit. Have 1GB of ram now and maxxed out the video card for this G4. Monitor is a few years old now, so I got a new one with similar specs as insurance, and to run a dual screen setup since this new card supports it (joy!).

Happy holidays everyone :)

I got a VGA converter which, lets me play xbox and N64 on my pc monitor with the flip of a switch without disrupting anything on my pc.  A DNA lab some stuff from J!NX some pants umm a tub of PopCorn, Animal Crossing DS, $100 to spend on a new Graphx card and $50 to spend boosting my ram, a $25 dollar game stop gift card, $5 I found in the sofa, and $200 towards my robotics trip fund... I need $200 more by Jan 4, this is going to be a long long long week.

Cool. Let me know how it looks. Have to decide on a gaming/entertainment screen too.. currently leaning towards a tv, but they're pricy.

Rock! Let's see your stuff soon :)

Me Too :) My stocking included nail clippers, a brush, and a regular old pen. I was kind of expecting more candy or little toys, since the stuffers seemed more like.. well, ordinary items you pick up at the drug store, but I can always use more of the essentials. :)  Seeing as they like to give those sorts of things, next year I'm going to be buying office supplies as stocking stuffers. Someone surely needs a box of staples, bandaids, and some q-tips. XD

.. a ukulele? Why? By the way, what sort of audio setup do you have now?

I read that the iPod, under Podzilla, can now emulate a ZX Spectrum. How neat is that?

What'd everyone get for Christmas? Two highlights for me: iMac G5 and Adobe Illustrator.

Lucky you...I've been asking for a new computer since last year and my iBook is now five years old :(

This must have been the worst Christmas ever...my highlight is a Slipknot t-shirt...and enough money to buy a Wacom Graphire4 Classic XL. Now I just got to travel 200km to reach the nearest shop in Portugal that sells it, cause my parents don't let my buy it on the internet (mostly because the price will increase a lot with shipping and stuff...).

Hopefully you guys had a better x-mas :-\

Well it works great I only have 2 problems, one is that every time you switch you have to shut it off which gets annoying becuase mine doesn't save settings like size or brightness which if you are picky you have to set each time, and im now playing Majoras Mask and I cant figure out how to save it other than going back in time, which gets annoying.  So I have to leave it on all the time, and it just froze so I'm here now, rather angry.

GAHH!!!  Banana phone has been playing on my neighbor’s stereo all day!  I can hear it from here!  They left for vacation and don't come back till Thursday...  If it doesn't shut itself off by tomorrow I am going to break in and destroy her stereo.
(I live in the upstairs corner of the house right next to our neighbors; the stereo is in her bedroom with the open window on the second story…)

I wanted a ukulele because of that one song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Ukulele's are easily the most relaxing instruments ever invented. I found out, however, that the cheapest ones that were suitable were about 40 bucks, and I don't wanna spend that much on a uke right now.

And as for the audio set up, I pretty much have my mp3 player hooked up to some old computer speakers. I have a bass amp, but I don't have the cables and stuff to hook up my mp3 player to it. I have to hack something together.

Are there any good javascript editors out there? Here's what I'm looking for:

-Color codes commands by syntax and stuff
-Debugs the programs
-Can show me a preview of my program, like FrontPage does

That's really all I care about. Is there anything like that?

Its 7:11 here.  Free slurpies!  ATM I’m setting up my blocks fireworks display.  Low on supplies this year due to our bottle rocket and roman candle war having about 5 too many people.  Yet I'll make due by handing out firecrackers from my brick from last year.

Got mostly clothes from my foilks which is fine by me (especially cos I actually got to choose them myself this time).  I needed a whole new wardrobe anyways.

Other items were Batman Begins, Sin City and Disney's Robin Hood all on DVD.  I love them all.  Got Smackdown VS Raw 2006 for PS2 from my buddy which has kept me entertained.  And my Dad got me a lil MP3 player with 512mb space which does me nicely as I'm mostly on the move these days anyway.

Pardon me for breaking the #1 of Pixelation/Pixelopolis for the first time ever, but hay, thanks for locking my threads Kon/Alex.  It probably would have been too much work to either collaborate with me or better yet, just leave it open because who really cares.  Nice to see that when I spend a staggering ammount of the little free time I finally have to work on a flash animation and inspire others to draw as well is met with such disdain.

Forgive me for not knowing an obscure rule, but who really cares.  Just like all rules there is a level of subjectivity, and had I been a random new member trying to do an "activity" your "rule" would apply, but I would figure a prominent Veteran would be given a pass.  Heaven forbid an official activity and a fun activity completely under the wing of someone other than a moderator are both ongoing simultaneously.

Honestly, I don't get the chance to draw as much as I used to, especially pixel art, so when I finally find the drive again I wanted to make up for lost time with the community and involve everyone.

Way to suck the fun out of a creative activity.

hey scub, i really liked your "activity", been working on a fighter as well, hope i'll manage to get it done, i have some work i need to finish first though.
will you be adding any new "features" to the flash ? something i though would be great, would be if you actually link to peoples websites via the flash. its kinda something i thought was missing from the old one, whenever i saw a really cool fighter, i wanted to see more art from that specific artist.
anyway just a thought.

oh and the fighter dosent need to be a representation of ourself right?

keep up the good work.

Post by: Scuba Steve on January 02, 2006, 11:06:42 pm
Nah it doesn't have to be you.

The Webpage idea isn't too bad... Just let me see if I can make the flash go to a website (shouldn't be hard, and I'm positive it's possible)  If people want to give me a web link, I can make people's names link to it.

Well, we had a couple activities in the works which was planned to be released soon, and you came and posted three activity topics all at once without even notifying any of the representatives or mods about it, basically completely overlooking the rules. If you had notified us first, we could have scheduled it somehow(if it had been approved, which i dont see why not).
If we allow anyone to simply post activities, chances are others would begin making them(as has been the case in the past), so we don't expect to give exceptions to anyone, even you.

Three activities my foot, it's one broke up into 3 threads.  Regardless, nice to see you take a hard line stance on a petty mistake and the fun that would have ensued.

Albums everyone should own:

If you're a fan of rap, then you already should own this album. Even if you don't like rap, you should still get this album. Del tha Funkee Homosapien, or as he's known in this album "Deltron Zero," is a different kind of rapper. He's not caught up on hoes, cars, or gold teeth. He's making songs about computer viruses, napkin rings, and "cyberpunks." It's something a computer nerd like me can relate to. The samples are great, and surprisingly un-hip-hopish. There's a lot of slide guitar and massive orchestras, not to mention the obligatory sci-fi sound effects.

Go out and buy it. I command it.

P.S: For those of you who already who know who Del is, did you know that he's the brother of Ice Cube?

Well normally I hate all music.  Yet if I find this at my local Wal*Mart I'll but it.
white:wave:PC on Deltron CD... Dmit gotta get out of my Runscape dayz.  How much would that cd run me?
EDIT: Sorry music loves I just don’t hear it.  I just find music annoying noise.  I mean there are some songs that I hate less than others but I have no favorite, I don’t like bands I don’t like a style I just plainly in fact don’t like music.  I just don’t get it; I see you people listening to music all the time and frankly music bores me.  I mean if I got an iPod I would use it as a flash drive.  Don’t mean to cause a flame war.

Oh and yes I <3 Wal*Mart

Oh man I finally got Starship Troopers to work on my pc with my old card so I can play before the new one comes.  It is awesome, you know that part in the movie when the soldiers are at that base and the pile of dead bugs is getting so high that the bugs can just climb over their fallen comrades bodies to get over the walls. Yeah you get the same level.  At least 500 bugs on screen at once attacking you and your mates!  SWEET!  A tad laggy on my comp but nothing I can't deal with.  Yet it requires a DVD drive and some pretty got comp specs and graphics card.  Not Alien Ware if you run everything at low, but above average.  It deserves a spot on my list.

I got a limited budget darion.  Unless you wanna send me a copy as a late Christmas present i cant add it.  Also I am not much of a fan of horror games.  Like I'll play them but I just don't find em all that fun, I like games where you get that OMG DID YOU JUST SEE THAT!  HOLY CRAP THAT IS SWEET moments.  All the games on that list had those moments.  Games like The Sims 2, StarWars Battlefront II, Call of Duty and a game I loved but all others hate Without Warning, Mercenaries, Guitar Hero, Nexagon Deathmatch, DDR, Fable, Morrowind, RCT 1 2 & 3, and Devil May Cry also one to defy my rule Resident Evil 4 all go on my try em out and buy em if you got the cash game list.  Yes I am a hardcore xbox fan but no I don't really have the drive to buy the 360 I mean if I took money out of my trip fund and sold some stuff I could get a core but all I really want is Morrowind 4 Oblivion which will come out on PC so I can wait.  I also love my DS, love love love, I'll cuddle with it on those long cold nights when I cant sleep playing Animal Crossing.

I hate Animal Crossing. I can't stand that you can only find certain fish or bugs in particular seasons. It instantly destroyed my interest in the series forever. The real time clock thing bugs me, too.

I guess I prefer a game that can be bended to my will and not the other way.

OMG DID YOU JUST SEE THAT!  HOLY CRAP THAT IS SWEET
Katamari Damacy did this for me around the moon level when I sucked up ultraman, a squid, a navy fleet, and then proceeded to suck up an entire town.

Fighting the final villain in ICO really got to me as well, although it was a more subdued "OH CRAP! OH CRAP! OH CRAP!" Heheh, I couldn't even bring myself to attack the boss as I was too afraid that I would get my ass kicked.

You can always be one of those evil Timetravellers.

Yeah, I liked it initially, too. I like games that need you to build collections, it appeals to my kleptomanic urges. It's just frustrating to know that I can't finish my collection until a year after I start. How's that old cliche go, you can only hate the ones you love, or something like that.

hmm, was thinking about entering something for the king of spriters thread.
and then i remembered i have no knowledge of proper anatomy and proportion.
woe is me :x

i'm out of practice anyways.

crab: there's a lot more stuff to keep you occupied throughout the year, 2-6 events a month, instead of one theme event on every few months.
still, you're right, the game IS paced out to last an entire year.

I want to make a robot one, yeah!  I'll sketch it out tomorrow, do my math project, do my English project then enter the KOS yeah!  Meh, I might have to cut out sleep, eating and school on Monday but I think I can get it done.

AP Gov is currently raping my time and the semester hasn't even started yet. I'm currently procrastinating an assignment due tomorrow, that we'll probably have a test on. It's going to take another three to five hours for me to get it done, I'm sure and I just don't want to do it. Maybe I should go and finish it now so I don't miss The Simpsons, Family Guy and American Dad tonight.

So, I've been working on a pretty big project and I've been working non-stop for 6 days. In those 6 days, I've racked up maybe 10 hours of sleep tops. Tomorrow, I sleep. Sleep... how I've missed you...  :'(

Pssh, the only REAL AP course is AP Physics.

Speaking of Physics, I made my own speakers! It's mah Jambox. Check it out:

Yeah, it's pretty loud. And yeah, that's cardboard and duct tape. And yeah, I wear it around mah neck. And yeah, I'm a gangster.

Reminds me of my friend talking about a fully functional amp that could be put on a belt and taken around while you played an electrical guitar.

And AP physics must kill. I can barely keep up with physics. Especially the math part, which is partially due to my never getting through geometry and thus never making it to higher level maths.

Skipper = nobody likes you and you can't pull off red hair like I can

Blick: Yeah, AP physics does suck, but the nice thing is, we get to take a trip to great america at the end of the year. Haha, that's pretty much the main reason I took the class.

I get some of it, but most of it goes over my head.

I have returned!

(Not that I expect anyone to remember me, but hey.  It's good to be back.)

Happy new year, everyone!

Great America?  Can you point on a map exactly where that is?  Also I like those speakers... I want them... What I would use them for I don't know, I don't own a CD player or a mp3 player.  I'll just carry round my DS and hook it up to em.
Blick, I slept through the first two marking periods of Geometry and pulled straight A's.  I also played Metriod through the last two of Algebra...

It'll be my turn to miss sleep for the next few days... but I actually like this - except for the eyes when they start to burn!

Yup! I was only able to sleep for 5 hours, but they were the best 5 hours of sleep I've ever had.

It's in California. South Bay. San Jose, Santa Clara... I can't pinpoint it exactly, but it's not too far from portions of the silicon valley.. I know there's a Hitachi property not too far away (should be enough info for you to Google Map it!) The rides there are better than Disneyland (which is in LA/OC?).

or just point at america in general. its all good.

Talking about havin' fun in class, my and a friend of mine made puppets and treated the rows behind us to shows during biology. I ended up coming 2nd of my year for biology ;D

on a side note, these damn copy protected cds allow me to copy songs but then add a nice crackle into the background.

Well buy all your music again or deal with the crackle.  No, not all America is great, honestly I hate New York, I think its disgusting, run down, and the nicest buildings there are banks and fast food restaurants.  In the large business area it is kind of nice but the people there are jerks.  Texas is a nice place to be, the people there are very nice and most things are within walking distance.  Here in NJ I'm just close enough to walk home from school but not close enough to want to go there and hang out.  I’m also pinned between two major highways and live on the only major road connecting them for miles.

You could just get a free recording program like Audacity, then play a track from the CD while recording it with Audacity through the Wave Out mix.

And on a side note: there are many great americas, but I live in the midwest, so the closest one is in northern Illinois.
