Title: Sucky running animation (need help~)
Post by: Destiny on July 21, 2008, 02:23:46 am
One of the first times I've done a scarf animation :E. Had a couple references, any C+C on the sprite itself an the animation.
I'm thinking ill name the character Elegy.

I dont know the name of the game, but I used a gut with a red scarf and goggles for reference on the scarf animation.

I love the kids design and the style you got going on.
The scard animation is great but yeah the walk animation has some problems.
My animation isn't perfect, just thought I'd help you see what you were doing wrong.
I'm pretty sure I made the right leg go too slowly across the ground though..

Well, you definitely need to make the scarf animated on the running pose.  ::)

Try copying the leg on the front, once you fix it, and shade it darker (Right now it's hard to tell the difference between the legs.) Then put it on behind the front leg.
Also, it looks like he is running slightly toward us (That's how it seems to me from looking at his face), but his hat looks a little too tilted in our direction.

It also seems like there's too much of a outline behind the ear on this animation:(http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc232/Danny-Man/Kid.gif)

Try to think of it as beat - right-left, up-down, right-left, wax on-wax off  etc.=) 1-4 frames - right leg cycle, 5-8 - left, 1 and 5 - move up, 2 and 6 down - all in pairs.
See if this helps.

I based this off of fool's help animation. Could someone please animate for me :D?

no

edit:
Ok that might sound harsh but really...
put some effort in it and try to animate it yourself.

Fool helped you without asking for anything in return, the least you can do is follow his critic.

I followed fool's advice. Which is why I stated in that post that I based the newest one of fool's helpful animation because I found it the most useful.
Not to say I don't appreciate everyone else help, I really do.
And have you considered I can't animate it because I don't have an animator :/?
You make it sound like I'm being an ungrateful little twat, when your just blowing everything I'm saying out of proportion :/

EDIT: And before the "Why don't you just download one" post comes up, I dont have a computer, the one I use for spriting is my parents. I have very limited downloading ability. The one who was nice enough to animate things for me before (Danny is awesome :D), weer the images I posted.

When you said: "Could someone please animate for me?"
it sounded more like: "Can someone finish this animation for me?" i.e. add arms etc
when you meant to say: "Can someone save this as an animated gif for me?"
