Title: Third attempt
Post by: VisMaior on June 30, 2008, 06:25:35 pm
This is an avatar request for some guy on another site.
He had some pretty accurate picture in his mind, and here is my interpretation:

Im thinking wether I should get rid of the outlines, and if I could do the stripes a bit more realistic. C&C welcome, as always

Edit: Ehh? 250+ views and no replies? Is it that bad?

Anyway, here is an edit. This is probably the final version:

looks pretty nice so far. id still call it unfinished, it has no face afterall. plus some things can be smoothed out such as the card edges and other lines and details, look into how to do aa (anti-aliasing).. also, post more art, dont rely on just one piece of work to get you good critiques, sometimes certain things just don't arouse people enough to post.

Thanks for the input! Ill try your suggestions. The "no-face" is not a bug, its a feature, this is PokerFace after all.

The pokerface is a good idea!
I think you should stay without outlines because they made it look dark and dirty.
You should make the stripes more vibrant too, because stripes are cool :]

it's quite nice and the guy's cool :D
but i think the cards are pretty annoying... it's ok that their outlines keep the shapes realistic, but groups of black pixels (like the ones on the card next to his left hand) focus too much my attention... you could use a less outstanding color for the cards' outline (you took the black outline off the man and did well) and, if you want, try some shading technics on all the contours. you could also enlarge the 'peak' (how could i call it?  ???) over his eyebrows to get a more circular shape.
sorry if my english drove you mad ^^'
