Girlfriend on the left, I consider hers finished at the moment
Me on the right, still WIP

I plan to do several more of a few friends.
Ladyfriend ref:

Likeness note: her hair is now much shorter, as illustrated in the pixel art.
Me ref:

Likeness note: My hair is now a bit longer. Also, though I often have a rather apathetic facial expression, the dead-to-reality/hates-the-world expression is because I was high when the picture was taken. I'm not always that creepy looking ; )
Also to note, Arachne provided me with an excellent edit over at pixeljoint, the initial portrait of the girl was much worse beforehand.
Comments/criticisms/suggestions/edits for either portrait are welcomed and appreciated.

Good job, but I know you can take this further and thus some crits, mainly regarding proportions.
Her:
- Nose is too wide, look at nose/eye width ration in photo.
- I think her jawangle is steeper than 45 degrees (which is the lazy way to go here).
- Her jaw also is not as wide, I would shave off a few pixels on the side.
- I think you made her too shiney, she looks greased up.
- Her nostrils look a bit harsh.
- I think her lower lip could do with 1 pixel more thickness.
- Folds around her mouth too harsh, make her look older.
- Neck could be rendered a bit more.
- Her hairline should be a few pixels lower I think.
You:
- You made your mouth a tad too wide.
- Your left eye is quite a bit higher than your right, and at this size you can show this for sure (I have this too, asymmetry ftw!)
- Eyebrows too big, look where they stop over your eyes, you made them go too far in.
- Birthmarks, moles, whatever on neck and forhead, perhaps even the ones on your left cheek.
- Neck could be rendered a bit more.
I think that's it for now.
PS: Nice girlfriend.

I attempted to address all of your suggestions, still unsure how well some parts came out. I may have forgotten a mole or two on my neck, other than that everything should be covered.
How'd I do? :D

Also: Now I'll be self conscious for the rest of my life. Thanks for pointing out my lopsided face, jerk.
If only I hadn't seen that special on how asymmetry is deemed less attractive than symmetrical faces...
PS: Thanks

Agg! You're shading according to the reference, which has camera flash as the lightsource? :( This is distressing!

I loves your stuff!
Just want you to know that before I go on pointing very minor stuff with the C&C, hehe.
She
-I think she's looking a bit too masculine right now, so you might want to consider losing some details.
-Her mouth still looks too wide for me. Maybe because teeth is something so bright, it makes it feels as though it's taking up 1/2 of the face.
-I realize you made her eye looked more like a "n" shape. But from the photo here, the lower line of her eyes seems pretty straight.
-as for being too symmetrical, I realized her right face is thinner then the left, and her right eye is maybe a pixel smaller the her left.
You
-I think you made yourselve looked a bit too old / muscular.
-or have a few more hair stranding

Why not go with a more neutral color set? The answer to this is "and why do?" and that's fair enough, just saying.

Good point. I didn't notice how saturated my palette was. I'll mess around with it once I get my computer set back up, just moved home for the summer.
