Title: This game is so awesome you wouldn't even know

NOTES: It's such a hassle having to use Microsoft GIF Animator, especially since I'm used to Fireworks. The downwards walking uses the wrong head(it's squished). The downwards slashing is just positioned wrongly, but imo it's clear that it animates well. Really sorry, but animating in MGA is agh just so-!

I posted this here to mainly get help on the trees and grass. The tree (number 1), I really like, but there's something off about it, so a little objectivity might help. The grass looks a bit sparse to me.

Overall, I'm pretty happy about the sprites, but just need help with those particular things I've mentioned.

Hope this doesn't go like my last topic, hurrhurr  :D

I agree that the grass looks pretty sparse. It also looks almost shiny or something because of the extreme highlights you have on it. I Also think you should add maybe one more color to the trees, an almost black or something to add a little more definition. Otherwise, I like the sprites. They are very good.

Any suggestions on how to fix the grass? Should I darken the highlights?

And the tree has a near-black brown. Does it really need another near-black?

Thanks for the post. Now mine isn't a dead topic. :'(

aye. Lower the contrast on the grass and maybe lessen/simplify some of the detail on the tree. Together they make the thing look way messy, especially in comparison with the bold, simple sprites.

Why don't you get GraphicsGale if you don't like Microsoft GIF animator?

To animate in GraphicsGale you need the commercial version :(.

you don't need the commercial version of graphics gale to animate.  The only difference in the commercial and the free version is that you cant export or open gif files in the free version.  All you need to do is export your animation into separate files and reorder them in some other program that you can export as a gif.

Well, I tried putting selout on the barren tree and the tree stump, and made the grass highlights darker. Is this a step to the right direction, or do you suggest revamping the tree, et al?

Made a house, hope the perspective is more or less correct/matching the rest.

Also, crits on birdboy.

To be nitpicky on the birdman, the side view should probably have the beak slightly lower and a tiny bit more of the top of the head because it's inconsistent with the front view's perspective right now. Great job otherwise, I love the background tiles.
