Reminds me of gorillaz.
Perhaps some simple shading on the pants and shirt seems quite flat.
The hair could use some work.

Reminds me of gorillaz.
That's exactly what I thought when I saw this!  :P

Well then. This is much better than my first attempt (yesterday  :D)

The hair/pants do look -better- but not best. Uhhh, but I can't help much there sorry  :-[
His shirt hurts my feelings btw.

lookin good, excellent for a first. i think the shading is too vague, but you could argue that thats part of the style. heres an edit:
i changed the colors a little, but my moniter is crap so it may look horrible.
worked on shading too. since there isn't much, i don't know if its pillow shaded or not, but i tried to add a light source. brought the pants up a shade.
im not really that good, so don't take my advice too seriously.  :P
oh, and i didn't touch the hair really. workin on the body mostly. its a little sloppy, sorry, but its late and im tired.

sorry coran, but I don't think your edit was much of a change in the right direction.

a bit of a jump, but it'll help. right now your piece lacks saturation and more contrasting shadows. the hair shading in particular is a bit 'bevel filter' looking.
remove the unnecessary dithering, it doesn't really work on smaller pieces like this. I changed outlines too, so check em out.

edit: ah, it's an image of yourself? in that case keep the hair a little darker and keep your shoes, just suggestions though

Wow, you really help me with this, lets see what I can do with your advices.

edit: by the way, the t shirt is just a joke (a weird story between a friend and I)

2nd edit: well, what do you think?

You just recolored and removed a few lines from alk's edit. That's not how you learn. Study what alk did, and apply it to your piece on your own. If you copy and paste, you'll learn nothing. :(

hey, easy I know that, I just wanted to know if the stuff I edited (like color of hair and the shoes) are right

Well then, the hair is a bit too un-saturated compared to his shirt. You'll have to change the color of the shirt if you want to keep the color of the hair, just a tad bit though.

That's fine. Now work on your piece and we'll see where it goes from there.

what do you mean with "work on your piece"?
and don't misunderstand me, I just trying to say that I did work on my original piece, of course based on alka's work. Just have to look closely the face, the hair, shirt, arms, pants, etc.

ok, sorry, its just that some times I have problems with english as is not my native language.
In spanish there are a lot of double meanings (I know in english too, but mexicans trend to be more "sarcastic").

Mine are on the right, obviously.
Just some skin-tone tests, mostly done to improve my own knowledge. Some of the black outlines got killed by accident, somehow. The last three deffo work for an olive-skinned person, which means I personally succeeded ;D.
Anyway, take what you will from it, got any questions just ask, etc.
