Title: [WIP]Meanwhile
Post by: Kaczor on April 25, 2008, 08:48:50 pm
So I've got some hard time with the game I'm currently working on. It's perfect time to start something new . Here it goes:

Maybe something decent will come out of this.

I just love not getting any response, yeah ;D!

i scribbled on this for a while. here's what i think:
you're kind of shading in twotone. everything's either inshadow/notinshadow, and for the shadows you're using one colour and for the lights, all the others. as a result, everything's kind of bulbous and disconnected. you need more midtone.

Let me guess Kaczor, you didn't use a reference? Heres a quick paint over of tocky's edit. I had a picture of a bald guy in front of me when I did it. Humans have so much junk in their brains for recognising faces that you really need a reference to get the features' positions right. Also, there's some stuff you only see when looking at a reference (eg. tops of heads aren't prefect spheres).

No I didn't :D! I wasn't really aiming at realism.
Thanks for the tips. I'm currently working on something but maybe I'll try to improve this when I find time.

Just to clarify: I wasn't saying you have to do it realistic. Even if you keep it cartoony, I believe that a reference can help.
