Title: Almdudler - WIP
Post by: Panda on December 02, 2005, 08:18:11 am
Long time no post and all.

Back during early October or so I started pixelling this:
It, more or less started as a remake of the label of some Austrian drink called Almdudler (Their label (http://www.hollywood-super-bowling.at/drinks/Almdudler.jpg))
But as I got busy moving during October and all, it was left unfinished (left part, hat, pants, bottom of the mug are unfinished), not sure if inspiration will zap again to keep pixelling it, but ah well who knows.

20 colors so far
Feel free to comment

that's supoi!
the skin texture is pretty sweet and the green jacket has a really nice texture in it. especially the dithering on the lower area.
on the crit side, the glass could have more reflectivity and depth.

That's really cool looking! hope you decide to finish it.  Can't really say much since you're so far from done. The only thing that looks progressed that bothers me is his neck. Seems like the Adam's apple shouldn't be lit since it's in a shadow.

Nice to see you post this, Panda! But too bad you haven't got much progress in few months ;)

Seems like the Adam's apple shouldn't be lit since it's in a shadow.

Actually it should. Ever heard of light reflection? The collar is really bright, so it would reflect pretty much light to his throat area.

Holy crap, Panda. Hmmm, what to say about this piece - I really just can't think of any critiques at the moment. The glass is a bit dull, but other than that I love the thing. Fucking finish this!

haha neat. how on earth did you come up with Almdudler? I didnīt think anyone outside of Austria knew about it. As far as crits go, I think it could do with  a broader palette range, some highlights would probably look good.

Thanks for the comments.

@ Tomi: Thanks, Miascugh already told me that I should add more white reflections on the glass and all, but as it remained untouched since then I didnt work on it, but I'll play with it as soon as I get back to it.
@ MadToaster: What ter-o said, so yeah, but thanks for the comment.
@ ter-o: hehe, yeah...  :(, thanks for the explanation of the reflection thing anyway.
@ Silver: Thanks, and heh.
@ Monsoo2d: <3
@ David: thanks :D As said I'll play with reflections as soon as I go back to it, as somehow I'm slightly inspired.
@ Hase: Well, I got to know about Almdudler the first time I went to Austria. After buying it (as I wanted to try something new to drink) I just kept the label, and when going back to it, I thought I could do a remake of it and all. And well currently being in Austria I get to hear about it quite a lot. As for colors, I tried to keep them low, the lower I could but without restricting myself much.
@ Blink: Nah I didnt have in mind Larry at all when starting this, it just happened to look like him when done with the face, I'll post the process next time. And thanks.
