Here, it's an alien look-a-like.

i'm just in a critique mood =)
first of all get to know, where the lightsource is located. the whole character looks a bit flat due to low contrast of the palette
i'd start to remove the black inlines at the character. when coloring an image i always think of how it would look like if it was a 3d-model
i try to think of a lightsource and try to understand where the light would be brighter or where the shadow would be
black outlines is sometimes a nice effect on an image, but basically i (for myself) prefer selective outlining (take a look at this (http://www.zoggles.co.uk/asp/tutorials.asp?tut=8))
one thing i've learned of drawing blood is: blood looks better without outlines. take a really extreme red for normal blood and a darker red tone for blood in a shaded area
i hope i could help a bit

ps: sorry for my bad english >_<
