Post by: nacritico on February 15, 2008, 06:32:16 pm
Hi, I'm new to the forum and... well.. I'm looking for help with this sprite art:

besides taking the dither off, and adding him a real nose, ears and stuff..
any advise of how can I improve him?? ... any way of making him look more "human" ?

Get a reference picture of an eye, unless this is the style you want.

If you know they're supposed to be there, then put 'em there. Just find enough reference.

If you want this guy to look more human you need to study the human face and head. To me it seems like you've drawn the head within the canvas, rather than cropping the canvas around your drawing of a head, creating a very flat, square head. On the average human skull, the eyes lie in the centre. You've gotta notice the inner workings of a head too, the bone structure and whatnot. His eyeballs would practically meet within the skull atm, leaving little room for the muscles and tissues that are meant to lie between. Lalala those are some things just to get you started, when you study from life you'll eventually get these things drilled into your memory.

This may help. (http://wichita.kumc.edu/support/lab/images/human_skull.jpg)

You've got to ditch those eyes if you want it to look more like a human. I made an edit, but don't really have much to add from what others have said.
