Title: Help with avatar [nudity]
Post by: ilkke on January 16, 2008, 01:13:09 pm
Ok, here it is:

5 colors

I thought it would be easy and fun, but I've been stuck with it for quite a while. Every now and then I sit and try to fix certain things, but I still feel I'm not really getting anywhere with it. I don't think that the lighting is correct and bits of image seem like disconnected islands of colors rather than a face in half-darkness. I don't mind eyes being different sizes, but the nose shape is terrible. I can't even look at this piece from a distance anymore, so I'm pleading for HELP!
Edits are welcome.

just a quick thought:

it's really hard to tell though what you want this to be doing.  the sizes of the features imply perspective, as the eyes are too small for the nose which is too small for the mouth, but the angle of the nose etc implies the opposite perspective in action.  Overall this is flattening your piece.

I went for a more frontal nose, but left your sizes, as like I said i can't be sure what your aim is with that.

Thanks alot!
I started making some changes based on your edit, but I think I have now made it too realistic.

I'll try to make a hybrid by combining the cartoony nose with the realistic light.
