Title: sprite/bgx2 [updated]
Post by: vedsten on December 14, 2007, 12:31:15 am
Going through the ever-growing pile of never-finished pixels, I stumbled upon a few i thought were decent enough to complete.

Random guy w. iron glove [FIXED]
~15 colors

Bg of some sort [UPDATED]
(http://www.inventiveminds.dk/vedsten/wips/seascape_11c.png) -> (http://www.inventiveminds.dk/vedsten/wips/seascape_15c.png)
~11 colors / 15 colors

Another bg of some other sort. I didn't quite wrap this one up yet as I keep running into the same problems shading the bunker that caused me to drop this one in the first place. Still, i kinda like it, and'll give it another go this weekend

~20 colors

My resume is kinda lagging more recent stuff, so any c&c that could improve any of these would be welcome

Cheers

The oceanside rock thing looks really good, but is it supposed to be ice or rock? I can't seem to figure that one out.
What's with the random pixels that change on the idle?

The face on the sprite seems segmented, it really ruins it for me. The glacier scene and the explosions are top notch though.

There seems to be some random gray pixels popping in both on the idle and walking animation. Is there a specific reason for this?

@ Sherman ~ It's been a while since i started it, but I believe I made it as rocks back then. Presley think it looks like ice too though, and I must admit that it looks pretty ice-like.

@ Presley ~ I see what you mean, I'll look into it this weekend

@ BOB ~ Uhm.. well, no, not an artistic reason anyway. My trial vers. of pm expired, so i took screenshots of every frame and then pasted it into photoshop, only to discover that photoshop can't save animated gifs (or i couldn't find out how to do it), so i had to copy the frames from photoshop to some crappy "microsoft gif-animator" i downloaded and THEN save (without transp. cause i didn't know how to  >:( ). Somewhere in the process I obviously fucked it up. I'm unfortunately unable to fix this right now, but i'll take care of it first thing tommorow.

The subpixel idle animation doesnt work for me, need more action I think.
I dont know wich photoshop version you using, but my version(6) has imageready included.
Simple click on the bottom of the Toolbar.

@ verbiet - it's not an attempt at subpixel animation, the idle sprite is not supposed to be animated, they're all stray pixels.

better remove the animation untill i fix it

UPDATE:

Long due update, been swamped
I didn't care for the lack of texture, so i tried defining it some more, might've gone a bit overboard tho + added a lizard

Let me know what you think

I like it with the texture... i think the sky would love some texture... it would add too the picture i think make it more dramatic.
