really?
I'll check again!

10 colors?
argh, maybe I'm just color blind. I'll take your word for it and say its 12 colors.
Also, your welcome to give me critique, i'll try and apply it! who knows, it'll probably help me a lot!

I'll take Critique from anyone, throw it at me!

New version. this one should have 13 colors.

That's not Anti-aliasing, just blurring, which is making it harder to read.
Try limiting your AA to just a one pixel 'line' following the outside of the thing, it's very useful when you're just learning about AA ;).

thanks, i'll try to cut down on anti-analizing and shadows, I did go reaallly heavy, and kinda on purpose. I'll have to kinda fix it! :D it kinda adds too many colors :/
thanks for the C&C!

the shades you're using to AA the jetblack outlines are too light to make a smooth transition to white, adding lighter shades around that won't help. I'd fiddle around with the levels of each shades and try keep the AAing as simple and as close to the original line you're AAing as possible, if you end up straying +2 pixels it'll look blurry, and take into account what actually needs to be AAed. I've done a very rough edit as comparisant, just how keeping it more controlled can make all the difference. It's not a full edit because tbh I don't think theres much to this image atm. I'd try something a bit bigger so you can get at least some detail in and play more with getting grips with form.

You have a good amount of work ahead of you, maybe while you're at it you can give it a more dynamic pose. That's what those office desk accessories are made for.

So based off all the C&C so far, i managed to pull this together!

i probably need to add a few more colors to make it look nicer, but i'll do that later.

Basically Jon, Terley and Gill's opinions have been applied

Yay, this is the new one, slightly altered, and I'm preparing to possibly animate make a larger version of it like Terley suggested.

Constructive Criticism please!

LARGE VERSION YAY.

i Would say to give him a better pose, because right now he looks as if he were in a lineup in the army, and also, the light source, change it to how you have it on the smaller version.

there you go!

I'll have to work on a new pose later, while I'm gone, does anyone mind making some pictures of recommended poses?

I'll be gone for like, 24 hours >_>

INCOMING HARSHNESS

I mean, your aim seems to be drawing an acrobatic pose out of VERY simple volumes, as in that thinkgeek photo, and what we get is a sort of randomly shaded cartoony army guy with a golf ball head in the most boring pose ever.  This tells me you are very uncomfortable with a lot of art fundamentals.  So, my advice to you is this!

Stop doing color, AA and dithering right now, and start working on fundamentals of lighting, value, and anatomy!  You are definitely spending time on the wrong stuff.  Once you learn more about value and lighting and structure these other pixel techniques will fall into place without much practice at all, I promise.

Good luck!

So i need to practice the fundamentals?
okay! finally some more C&C!

I'll try on that, so practice volume and anatomy...

try to work on ways to make things look more 3D?
and work on the shape of body parts...

okay!
if i interpreted the post wrong, please tell me

do you have one of these? Its the only reason I think of for why you're pixelin it. why not use it as a reference, its movable so you could put it into a more interesting pose. If not im sure there are more reference pictures of this on the net.

edit.?

i Actually have that piccy :D

i dont have one, sadly, i put one on my wish list for help with poses. also they look cool.

i'm going to mess with it and try to experiment a bit more, so it'll be a bit till the next update.

If you want help with poses you really need one of these:

So i messed around a bit and came up with this.

It has 8 colors, with lots of dithering.

Probably isn't the last version

Sorry for the slight bump
