ground tiles and sprites are really nice, that back wall and the health bar don't eally fit the style though...

that fence looks brilliant, clever how its just straight lines with no aa and yet looks smooth.  That white highlight on the brick isnt really needed.

hmm also the pavement might a little to "dirty", i know its proably ghetto town, the rest is so well rendered but that black broken line just doesn't work for me...

Looks pretty good so far. I really think the window needs a frame (perhaps you haven't got to that yet). Also, the highlights on the bricks are on the right when everything else suggests a left light source.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions guys.  I'll keep them in mind as I work on this.

Doubt the edits I did to the main character are noticable but I'll put 'em next to each other so you can see what I changed.

Mine - Yours

heh, the main character portraits looks like a cross between spike from cowboy bebop and ryumaru from real life

souly, i think your edit actually just confuses and in some cases completely breaks the forms with all that.  dirty pixelling is one of your mainstays and it works pretty OK for what you do, but not in this case.

foreground is great even if the scale is a little wtf :D

two characters really don't match up except for coloring, and the hand in front of the face makes it read very difficultly.  i would move the hand over 1 px and put just enough light on the face to define it as a shape, even if it's not a very visible one.

My edit was more on the legs then anything, didn't really focus on fixing much else just did an edit here and there.

thanks for all the comments, i won't be able to get any work done on this until this weekend.
@souly - honestly, he doesn't look balanced anymore.  It seems it would cause a lot of stress to his knees.
@adarias - what do you mean don't match up?  I'm not following you.
@helm - ok, i'll fix that.

The only thing that was bugging me with the leg was that the black line really made it look much too straight and not like a leg.
