Great to see so much charater with soo few pixels.
I like the color choices.

However, it looks like you can't decide on using iso or platform perspective, what's it going to be?

Let's see a full mock-up!

Lovely stuff as always, of course the perspective argument is real though >.<

Since everything seems to be fine save for the person, i would just turn him such that he fits properly.

thanks guys, the perspective is supposed to be platform.  Ill try to fix anyone that doesnt fit that perspective.

it all depends on what sort of platforms these will be on. If they're going to be straight ahead platforms, only the main character fits. If they're going to have fake vertical depth, then everything fits it.

helm, you said it perfectly.  The latter is what i had planned.

animate.

....
What in the name of god does that contribute?

Also, the third to the right and the one on the end, of the monsters, don't read well. What are they supposed to be?

Great work with a limited palette - these are GBA-licious in a big way.  I agree that the original bird character is pretty hard to read; I mean the shapes are there, it's just kind of hard to tell its a bird.  I like the kind of sickly pall on the infected creatures a lot, very nice color usage!

I really love these, specially the fatc that the infected bomb becomes and a tank, hehe.

I think the dude's forearms are a little too thin, judging by his head/torso proportions. If only they could be half a pixel wider.

I like these and thought the bird read perfectly well, and I do really like the virus versions.  Hard to say more without seeing any sort of platform.  The only one i dont "get" is the bomb turned tank; i think it's too much of a change tbh.

the worm thing becoming a butterfly would look better the other way around.  butterflys are beautiful creatures.

thanks for the comments guys :)
@adarias - heh i agree with you, the tank is a bit of a stretch. I couldn't really think of what a bomb could transform into besides an explosion, hence, the green tank.
@feron - viruses can be pretty too :P
Ill try to have a mockup soon.

Maybe a more modern bomb with a red digital countdown interface? I mean the black and red present in the bomb is perfect for a more digital evolution. And if you want to avoid numbers, maybe a red skull would be more fitting...?

Anyway, yeah, awesome stuff, as usual.

What about something random, like a pinecone turning into a grenade?

JWW - my father, an entomologist, happened to read your post, to which has response was "in the 15,000 named species of butterfly, they can't all be pretty." (this from the man who spent a while earlier in the evening talking about how he believes that insects are beautiful, but he meant that in a different sense of the word)
