Title: Campaign Central
Post by: Peppermint Pig on November 10, 2005, 01:26:31 pm
Alright, please post your intent to run here. Provided you are seconded by someone, you are considered to be in the running. You may campaign up until the 23rd of this month. You're welcome to withdraw at any time, and if your support is revoked, you need to acquire that again.

As a reminder, there are 3 seats available this time. Unless you specify which seats you want to run for, you will be added to the ballot for every seat.

Campaign Thread: You may create 1 thread to promote yourself.

Banners: People tend to make banners during the campaign period, in addition to creating a thread to promote their mission for the quarter. People typically run with 100x75 sized banners. It's not obligatory to create one, but it can help get the word out.

Good Luck Everyone!

I intend to run. I will focus on getting a commercial critique out this time, and make sure there will be a secret santa gift activity.

Vote Gil, you know you want to :D

I'm going to run for the first time.

I know I'm not very popular here (yes, I know most elections are a popularity contest), but I really want to help out this community.

Most of the people who run want to just prove their popularity and get a pat on the back.

I really want to be in a position to help give back to this wonderful board.

I think pixelpolis is a unique and treasured gem, and I want to do everything in my power to make sure it stays that way.

I intend to run as well.  I know I haven't posted much, but I am here all the time, and would love to help out the community.  Seeing as I'm only going to be taking 14 credit hours of classes next semester due to one of the classes I wanted filling up before I could register, I should have plenty of time to devote to serving the wonderful people of Pixelopolis.

I don't think you're qualified to judge the "reasons" why everyone else would run, I think it's very childish on your part to try and make yourself look bigger and better then other people by putting them down. but then again, maybe i'm wrong.

I think you're being childish by assuming I lack the qualifications to make observations and judgements.  I'm sorry, I'm an adult and am qualified to have an opinion.  My opinion is that a lot of elections are popularity contests.

Secondly, you are clearly putting words in my mouth I did not say.  While I was clear to say that "most people" (which is a percentage above 50%) would fall under this catagory, you said that I was speaking of "everyone else."

Now, you can infer that I feel bigger and better than the other people running.  I don't blame you.  I am a strong speaker, and my opinions are clear.  This is part of making a strong argument.  I am sorry I threatened you in making my argument to sell myself, but I never put any specific person or persons down in my statement.

I can not believe you would think that in an election, it's "childish" to make yourself out to be better than the other canidates.

Well then NyanNyanKoneko, we'll see if the rest of the forum appreciates your cocky and naieve attitude towards everything as much as I do :D

I'm running, representing zombie underclass and all that stuff. I don't have any ideas just yet on what I'll do as I only decided last night. I wil make sure Gil doesn't forget to make sure there is a Secret Santa :p

I'll try looking through google's cache of pixelation to see if there is any inspiration there.

EDIT: While watching Dogmeat and NyanNyan(http://www.wayofthepixel.net/pixelation/index.php?topic=376.msg5431#msg5431) conversing, I realised what this board needs desperately and what I could campaign on: a rainbow sarcasm tag!

An example of what it might look like

 ;D

Heh, I'll make a new post when I get a real idea.

lmao, that is so awesome, dogmeat. I love it. I'm gonna blow it up to x2 and stick it in my sig as well. When I get finished with a zombie-theme sig I'll PM you and Akira.

EDIT: Is there a limit to the number of banners we can have?

Because fish are people too!

alrighty - I intend to run

I'm not sure if i should post qualifications here or not - so if anyone can answer that question for me, that'd be nice.

But in short, I want to help this forum in any way, and I feel i have the motivation, capability, and insanity ::) to do so.

...wow...i need somebody to support me still...*runs off to look for an oblivious innocent*

Nobody supports me   :'(  What, do I smell funny or something?  Have I posted so little in my time on pixel boards that nobody remembers me?  I really want to help this forum; I have seen how good it can be and would love the opportunity to help improve it even more.  Please, at least give me the chance to run :-P

I thought you couldn't support someone if you were running...  Or am I mistaken about that?  If one can support another canditate, thanks for the support and I'll make a campaign thread.  Otherwise, just thanks for the support ;-)

What's the difference? Oh wait, are you thinking of those challenges where you gotta do some sprite or background in another game's style?

Err, well, same thing. When I mention commercial critiques I mean a thread with a breakdown of a commercial game, these come bundled with an activity to try recreate a certain aspect of the game... So yeah, if you want one of these, be sure to vote Gil, I supported them from day one!

13 hours. I'm really curious. I think Indigo will have done well, and so will crab2selout I think.

What happens if one guy wins all the polls? Runner-ups I assume, but which ones? The one with the highest vote on a single poll, or overal most votes?

I will add up the votes from all booths and the top three ranked candidates will take their respective seats. For the most part, you are equals, but it's always better to win closest to seat 1: If there's ever a change at the end of a quarter as for # of Daijin, then that ends up effecting the last seat in the order. So if you were in seat #4 and we removed that seat at the end of a quarter, the Daihyo working for you wouldn't be able to run in a closed circuit election amongst themselves.

Anyways, I will be posting the election stats soon.
