Hi there !
I'm new at pixelating so I need some training...
However, if you have some time, could you tell me what's wrong with this first sprite ?

It's a Simon Belmont sprite, from Castlevania.
Thanks for criticizing !

-

-
oh come on you can't really think that? heh well it's only 3 colors what else is there too do?
-
Thanks for the quick edit. As suggested, I added some shades on his belt and I gave him a taller head...
What else can I fix ^_^ ?

one thing that you shouldn't do when making such small sprites, is using so many colors i cut my edit down to like 3 and it looks almost just as good as your 12 colors :D
-
Another thing is that even with so many colors there's little noticable shading. Make your shadows a little darker, maybe? I'd like to see more face, too, something between your latest edit and zach's would be ncie. Other than the loincloth issue (maybe try making it brown?), good color separation and pose. Welcome!

Welcome ;).
To me theres so little contrast, that the extra shades aren't needed. You should raise the contrast between your shades a bit.
Nice work so far, keep pixelling! :).

A couple quick tips when working with a sprite of this size---
- Focus more on the illusion of depth and don't rely on outlines. In fact, I find it easier to not use ANY outlines.
- Choose colors that you can use throughout the piece. Don't just have "flesh" and "clothing" colors.
If I wasn't so busy, I'd expand on this. Sorry. That's all I have right now.

This way ?

You should add good contrast to it. Add the highlight for the muscle and make it bright but not to white. Make the muscle highlights kinda yellowish.

Added a light source but it seems odd to me... Isn't it ?
