Title: help please
Post by: Joseph on June 29, 2007, 06:04:57 pm
i'm starting a platform rpg game where you use swords.  I can draw the sword but I need help figuring out the slashing motion.
if someone could please post a tutorial or some easy-to-follow examples please do.

Lol ok...here's my sad excuse for a slash.

wow...honestly, I think I'm confident that's the worse thing i've created.

Stop it.
Stop feeling sorry for yourself. We ALL feel like we suck in some aspect, so might as well just suck it up and improve.
What don't you like about your animation? Find it, and change it, improve it!

Here's an half-assed edit to show you some things.

First off, downward motion. Your image looked like it was cutting upward, which is something that a swordsman would never do, except perhaps as a followup to a downward slash, in order to parry an incoming attack or something like that. Downward attacks are common because gravity forces the blade down on your opponent.

Erm, too tired to think of more to say right now.
