Title: Need some help with anatomy
Post by: Xenon02 on January 16, 2020, 12:21:14 pm
Hi everybody !

I've practicing anatomy (pixel art version) from this site : https://www.slynyrd.com/blog/2019/5/21/pixelblog-17-human-anatomy

It helps a lot but it doesn't how show poses like (kneeling, jumping, acquiescence). And this skeleton seems a lot messy adding (raw shapes)

I've seen a lot of othe character style but I wounder how do they keep the proportions.
I was thinking about drawing first everything on the paper (practicing first in real objects) then maybe pixel art but I'm not sure anymore.

Do you have any source or advice about that ?

Maybe you could share some of your attempts? :)

Most of my attempts I've deleted (I didn't like them, watching in them just makes me feel bad)

But I have my first "Redraw" to get the whole idea of it.
And my latest attempt

I'm not a expert in anatomy, but the bit I learnt may help you.

Your example show a large pelvis, so I assume that you try drew a woman (they have large pelvis because there is stored the baby), you actually doesn't need draw a circle, you can use a triangle, the top of pelvis is rounded, but the strutured is similar to a pyramid and move it in the same direction that you point your ribcage. What I recomend to you is keep see anatomy at general, but study some parts more deep to understand better.

After that you can give more shape to figure like I did, just forget the arms and legs, I'm still not good enough in draw they, too.

I was trying to draw a man, it's good to know what woman have a larger pelvis. It's pretty much the same shape like from the link from last post
I'll try to get this better.

What do you guys think about the other art styles ?
Do they use a similar skeleton ? I've seen that some people doesn't use this skeleton, they just go straight to figure (sketching a shape of leg, arms, head, body)

There are many artist that use many ways to draw their characters, besides, I prefer do a skeleton, so give him shape, add skin, cloths and the final details, I like this process and personally I don't like do other process, but I like see people's talent.

I was lucky enough to get some poseable figurines for Christmas. I haven't needed to draw people since then, but they look like a great short-cut for getting anatomy right.

This as well:

Using skeleton isn't a bad thing but adding shape/skin just mess up everything.

I've been working with several other figures.

Adding shape was a thing (it was some kind of daily so I had only 4 colors, just to let you know)

Skeleton wasn't a problem it was even ok, I even have a I guess a doll from my sister who draw that I can change his pose. But still thanks I'll learn how to use it :)
