Title: The Sad Zombie
Post by: bengo on May 19, 2007, 09:56:49 pm
Hey guys, new here, I recently picked up pixel art again, due to me wanting to make a zombie game, here's a zombie I've done, though for the game it probably won't be the final one(I'll probably just start all over again, joy):

Standing Animation Process

Thats all I have, took me about 30-50 minutes making it all, animating it wasn't as hard as I expected. Also, I'm not emo, I know he has the emo hair and stuff but yeah.... Comments? Edits? Etc?

Welcome back!

First off, I want to say that this looks like a very stylized piece; sort of reminds me of an american cartoon like the simpsons or futurama. The lineart and the initial coloring is very good but I think the AA you tried here could use more tweaking. Remember when anti-aliasing you must select a color inbetween the two colors you are trying to blend together to get rid of the "jaggyness". Theres alot of in-effective shading here aswell.

Heres a quick edit for the AA tips:

I just changed one of the shades you had and quickly went over the green areas that needed adjustment.

Hope this helps.

Ho damn, thats pretty awesome, yeah I got the feeling the body shading was sort of bland, the colors are better, I'll attempt to do something like it with similar colors and shading. Omenith, yeah, I probably need to AA that a bit, always been afraid to do that though, because I mean, wouldn't it be difficult, especially if the zombie is behind different backgrounds all the time? Also, I'm going to attempt to make the entire stance more dynamic, a bit more body movement. Too lazy, didn't animate:

hey

Hmm, I actually prefer the color of your original over everything else. I also think your latest version looks rather blurry. The plain looking style of your original somewhat appeals to me, but I do think the outlines look a tad to strong or something. Hmm, I'm not sure of what else to say for now, so I will leave it at that.

His head is actually supposed to look like its resting on his shoulder, hopefully it sorta came out that way.
Edit: Made an animation:
