First time posting here. The things I'm most uncertain about are the colors and the legibility of the character's pose, but I'll definitely take suggestions or pointers on anything else as well.

Thoughts?

while i am loving the angle on this dude, it's a bit hard for me to parse anything below the neck on this fella. Something's up with the clarity there!

Yeah, that's a good point. I should probably give him some better defined clothes.

Here's my input meow. I really like the style of this piece, Great job on your work. With that said~  I Simply just added a lil shading and dithering around the sword area to make it come alive. Or bring it out more and all dat jazz. ^_^

Hi,

looks great on details. But might be a unclear with tones and colors. The hand with the sword isn't read so well. I thought in the beginning what hand is not a hand but part of the head. That's might be because these two places of interest are placed to close and with similar tones to it disturb each other.

I would suggest to separate the sword by place and thone. We acrualy have two planes here: head and body and the hand with sword, so marking it by tone should be a good option, maybe make the sword more detailed and contrast because it's closer.
