Title: [PAID] Environment Art - Chucklefish partnership
Post by: Sigmoid94 on November 04, 2019, 12:00:56 am
Hi, pixel artist Sigmoid here! I've been an active game developer for over 12 years.

Right now I'm the art director for an unannounced project being published by Chucklefish.
(Some of their notable titles are Starbound, Wargroove, Stardew Valley, etc)

We need a helping hand with some environment art & objects in a few locations.
All areas in the game have been rough sketched with pixels, you would be asked to put the details on the premade rooms.
The style is cartoony with bold outlines on most things.
The environments are not made with tiles, so copy/pasting chunks + touching up is encouraged for quicker production.

There are roughly 150 rooms that vary in size drastically (some further along in completion than others). With multiple artists currently working on the project, the scope of each artists job may vary depending on their experience. The time to be completed is open for negotiation on an individual basis. We are hoping to have all areas detailed within a few months.

Payment will be through Paypal.

We have had some issues with artists in the past having trouble matching the style, so we've made a sample game to demonstrate the style in full. Please be sure to try the style demo, and see if this project is right for you before contacting:

Hey everyone, I lurk here every so often but I wanted to create an account to warn people on this post.

I believe this person is just spreading viruses around. Windows Defender detected the "game download" as a Brocoiner Trojan.

See more info about the virus/miner here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/threats/malware-encyclopedia-description?Name=Trojan:HTML/Brocoiner

Also a user by the same name has created a TIGSource account and posted about a "game" here: https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=grgoa6hdenfokkufa8mkup3lp4&topic=68859.0

Different file name, but it's the same 7.7MB file and it comes up with the same virus. Someone even mentions that as a post reply.

Seems like this is just someone trying to take advantage of pixel artists.

Yeahhhh I found it was odd, thought it was just an error on my end. Thankfully it looks like the virus link was deleted on both posts by admins.

going to leave this here.

Beware employment with this company, they've gained a significant amount of notoriety in the past for how they've treated artists and contributors to their products.

This is just me being salty, don't read this part
Also, just about every major update to starbound made it worse and worse until it left me personally with very bitter feelings about a project I once saw a lot of potential in. RIP the old lore, RIP the exploration based gameplay, and RIP any idea the story mode could have ever been good.
