Title: [WIP] Dragon Line Coloring
Post by: madartiststan on March 15, 2007, 04:06:18 am
These were lines posted in the lineart exchange thread and I decided to color them. Just wanted to show my progress and gather people's thoughts. The finished work will be posted in that thread.

Way too saturated! Particularly the wings.

Update: I rather like the dithering in some places. But I need C+C please :D

I think right now, it's pretty much about polish. The lines are solid. (just realized they aren't your lines. :P) just keep playing with the colors and try different dithering styles. Add some more hues, for example, instead of using the same hue in the darker green, make it more bluish, and then add another color inbetween the blue-green and midtone green...

Also, with a dragons skin, the scales could be taken into consideration for the dithering, you can use the 'style-dither' method, where instad of just using 2x2 meshing, you add in random 2x2 blocks, or 4x4 circles.

Thanks Stwelin. It really helps me out. I was rather worried about how I would do the scales. :)

Don't pillow shade, it screws with some of the volumetrics. I don't think the colors are too saturated personally, but I would definitely go with a wilder palette to make things interesting.

So yeah, what Stwelin said. :D
