im a bit of a newbie compared to alot of you but im trying to learn new stuff. :)

anyway. here is a cricket player i made.

the head is too small lol

It looks to me like the player is swinging improperly. From his stance (and the ball already being hit), it looks like he's swinging right handed. If that's the case, his right hand should be the one with the back of the hand facing up, and the left hand with the back of the hand facing down. The way it is now, it looks painful. If this is how a cricket bat is swung, then never mind  :P.

I know you wanted to give a sense of depth, yet you might want to rethink your proportions.  The torso seems way to large compared to the size of the arms and his hands are flipped around, his left should be facing up while his right should be facing down, like squat said.  Also don't call your self a newbie because we were all beginners at one point.  Another thing, when you dither you make another shade, many people just use it to make a small transition from one lighter shade to the other yet if you really want to make your art look more realistic the screen try using it like an extra color.

To me, it seemed like he used dithering that way on purpose; I thought it was his style. I really like the grainy look that the dithering gives it (and I don't usually, in other pieces of art that use a lot of dithering).  Though, that's just how I see it; I can't read minds, so I don't know if that was intended  :P.
