I might get rid of the outline on the bottom of the shoes to make the walk look more natural. Any critiques or suggestions are naturally welcome.

Hey!

I like the design of your captain! The main critique that I can give you is that the sprite looks a little bit flat in the last animation. In my opinion the main issues there are the head and the chest shadow.

As the head is turning while walking, we should be able to see a little extra bit of the back part.

Also, the shadow of the chest doesn't suggest volume, to me looks a little bit like a paper turning to face the direction of the light source.

I did a quick and crappy edit to illustrate my critique  :)

I definitely see what you mean with the chest shadow, and the head tilt. I'll give it a re-edit, though I may not emphasize the 'back' part of the head quite as much as it is in the edit. Thank you!

These are looking nice! The biggest issue is that your captain has no groin  :D The groin should be slightly below his jacket level. And the legs should pivot at a hip location a little bit lower than they do presently. You could also nudge the jacket up a little bit higher if that makes his legs seem stubby.

In addition since he is on an angle toward us his shadowed foot should fall and lift slightly further forward than his lit foot when he steps. Currently you have it the opposite way around.
Keep it up :y: ;D

I made several revisions, per-the feedback given here. Mainly I tilted the head a bit, changed how the shadows hit the torso, and-er-gave the captain a groin  :hehe:. Also pushed the shadowed foot a bit further forward, and the 'main leg' a bit back when landing.

He's looking good.

The only thing that stands out to me is his left leg. It seems to get thinner as he steps forward. It also looks smaller than his right leg since you can see his right leg behind his left leg. I think part of it is when his left leg is fully forward, his leg goes all the way up to torso into his shirt. Instead of ending at his pelvis like his right leg does.

But the shoulder twist looks great. As well as the lighting.

I'd wonder what his eyes would do if you changed them to a color. They seem a little beady as is. But I don't know that it's that big of a deal because it reads well and that's the important part.

His hat looks great. I really struggled with the hat on my sea captain.
