I have Photoshop and Paintshop are they good for spriting? If not, what else?

MSPaint

I use Paint Shop Pro 7.04, if that answers anything...

You could use both, I like the feel of using paint shop pro better however. Photoshop is just weirder to pixel with for me. I use graphics gale as well, that's pretty good.

Pixeling works just fine in Photoshop if you use the Pencil tool and disable the interpolation of the other tools you use (eraser, magic wand, paintbucket, polygon selection, etc.)
You can create any sort of graphic in Photoshop if you know what you're doing.

I use photoshop 'cos it's readily avaliable to me. I tend to get my palette in order and then change the color mode to index so that i'm not accidentally doing any high-color tweaking. It's pretty easy to do and it has some good hotkeys. very functional program. (and it should be for what it costs. :P)

Oh and graphics gale has pretty easy color tweaking when you change color depth to 256 colors. slide the color bars on a particular color and there you go. it also has animation capabilities, which is cool. it just can't be saved as a gif with free edition so you'll need to paste your animation into another program.

if you have access to photoshop - it wipes the floor with paint. after using it for a while u learn a lot os shrtcuts and tricks yourself.
most of the pro guys here rave about pro-motion, cheaper than photoshop, but photoshop is a good piece of software none-the-less.

Thanks. I'll see how I fair with photoshop.
