Looks good, whatever it is.  Has an edgy modernistic feel to it I can't wait till it is done.

Like the circuits that look like blood running down the wall. IS it an evangalion?

cool stuff..
what bothers me though is with its back muscles near the armpits.. there's a large gap there.. The back muscles should probably be wider to fill more of the gap near the armpits considering how muscular it is. The whole ribcage could be larger actually as well, but it could be due to the alien-ish style.. but yeah, anyways.. it looks like he has no shoulderblades basically..

Hahaha.. it really pains me to say this, seriously.. but it does look like an EVA.

Fuck the similarity, though, just roll with it. It looks nice so far. Do the legs.  :y:

Very nice job, Ryumaru. The darkest shade after the black however kind of clashes with the other colours. Aside from that, I really want to see you finish this one. :)

kon: thanks, ive always had trouble with that.
akzidenz: should i put a pyramid on its head so it doesnt look like one?
ryudo: i like that color D:

If you don't want to change that color, could you change the black to a darkish red-orange and the color on the other side to a bit more of a purple? Do it for the sake of the ramp, pity the poor ramp.

I really like the pseudohuman musculature you've got going in a lot of your pieces and this is no exception, but I think it could do with a larger head or maybe even a totally inhuman one.

This suffers from what most of your pieces suffer: invented anatomy, fixed pose, mirroring. It also enjoys nice colors and interesting effects. I don't know on what level it is useful to critique your art if you insist on not looking up your fundamental anatomical faults, and keep making straight-ahead chests'n'arms beings.

you get a lot of your ideas from the illuminati eh?

helm: to a certain extent, does not everybody"invent" there anatomy? surely when doing a piece from pure knowledge, you will make musclegroups similair from time to time? its not like im making up muscles, i could name all the muscles that im portraying in this piece. other than proportions, which ive purposefuly neglected, there arent any faults that really jump out at me. is the anatomy work on my pieces so bad that i cant even get an edit? if my work is this faulted at a mere anterior view, would it even make sense to make a more dynamic piece?
.takam: ohh, all i really know about the illuminati is that they were in the da vinci code. apparently the pyramid with the horus eye is one of there symbols, which was a basis of the design of "pyramid head" but there was no inspiration in this piece.
this piece was made after seeing the preview image of the first piece in this thread: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=85087
thinking that it would be cool if that part of the image was the chest, and he would have a "jinzo" like neck (yu-gi-oh).

What Helm said has a lot more to do with your subject matter. In other words, you might want to try something new or more challenging. Perhaps, more interesting angles?

Upper anatomy looks solid for the most part. Arms, chest, and abs all look anatomically similar to normal humans, taking into account style. Shoulder/neck area is a bit confusing, but they work.

Legs, on the otherhand, are looking pretty meh. You said before your understanding of lower body anatomy is weak. Man up and learn it. I see things exaggerated that shouldn't and vice-versa. Of course, it's largely a matter of personal style but I can make an edit to show what I think would correlate better to the established muscle pattern of the upper body.

gliding: but if my anatomy is so faulted, then how would a more dynamic angle do anything other than show more weakness?
takam: yeah, but thats more my cyclops fetish and less illuminati. maybe a subconcious inspiration of my fascination of egyptian mythology years past?
pkmays: that edit would be very much appreciated!
until then:

ryu the obvious route would be to improve your anatomy not find clever ways to hide it.

At any rate, I was merely  pointing out the message in helm's post. You have to learn reality in order to stlyize it correctly. It's a waste of time if you don't.

Edit? Sure. dunno how I'd do it better than a book on anatomy, but here you go.

All it takes is effort. You already have splendid aesthetic sense with colour,Ryu, you just need more direction.

lovely edit Helm.

how would a more dynamic angle do anything other than show more weakness?
i'd like to point out, that working at another angle gives you the opportunity to examine the subject from an alternative view, and in doing so, you get opportunities to learn new things. It's not about doing things correctly at this stage, moreso it's about improving yourself, because chances are things will never be exactly perfect.
Something which looks one way from one angle can look entirely different from another, and it's in looking both ways in which you understand more. When you stick to one perspective, you only get better at that perspective..
Just thought id mention this seeing as people are suggesting to try different things, thinking you are being repetitive as far as i understand..

Things that show more weakness are highly desirable  ;D

I like this piece partially for its anatomy "flaws", however -- one would not automatically expect an alien to have human proportions, so the tall-thinness and the long-armness and all the various curiosities give it an alien sensibility.

Also, yeah, things with extra eyes are cool.  No crits from me (I could say that mirroring is always anticlimactic, but that would be redundant).

(Your pictures in this style usually remind me of some kind of "guidebook to monsters", where you would expect the pictures to be in a non-dynamic, cataloguish pose -- they're very effective in that sense :))

that sentance clears things up for me.
checkworth: there are more flaws than just the proportions. i really do need to get of the mirroring thing though, last time i have an excuse, because i was under a time restraint.

thanks for ALL the comments everybody.
