Title: >:Omfg
Post by: Souly on December 15, 2006, 12:35:53 am
I have no clue what I'm doing with the character, or the background.
Got bored and decided to sketch something out.

I'm still not sure about the red pallete.
May try some others later.

I'd nix the AA, or lighten the color you're using. Doesn't really help the piece as it stands.

I agree with pkmays. As it stands, the AA just adds jaggies and make the image look a bit blurry. I did a quick edit (which I hope you're ok with) ...

I don't know if the colour count/palette was important to you, but I added a tone (between the black and darkest red), and altered the palette a bit overall. The AA still isn't great, but it gets the point across, I think. With your current palette, effective AA'll be almost impossible (or would be for me, anyway).

This is great, by the way. I love the design and pose and expression and... essentially all of it. ;D Touch up the AA a bit, and my eyes just might cry happy water.

(Stole your palette)

Alright, I worked on the mouth and the shading on the forehead.
I used your edit to base how I should do the AA.
I think I learned alot about AA from doing that.  :y:

I'ms till quite unsure of what to do with the background.

Some people said they like the brighter one better.
So I'll play with some pallete changes.

I'll see what I can do later.

Edit: Random colors.

This style looks great.
I love the detail you've put on the body, really interesting!

Damn Souly, you're getting good. The style reminds me of Blick's style in a way. I better start pixeling a lil' more, and catch up with you guys.

If anything, I'd lessen the AA action going on, especially with the legs. Right now, it's legs seem pretty choppy, due to the extensive AA. Solution:(imo, at least) I would try using less colors to AA the leg into the background. Right now, you are using 3 hues to blend the darkest hue, into the orange-ish background. This is ok sometimes, but in this case, it's only seen as extensive. Instead, you should only AAing certain areas of the leg with only 1-2 hues. It takes time to figure out the best placement of certain hues, but once you figure out that each nook and cranny of the leg shouldn't be AA'd equally throughout, You'll notice it will come up a smidge smoother...I guess, I just repeated myself in, like, 3 sentences or so up there, so if it will make it easier on you, I'll try and post an edit of my explanation, seeing as how I suck with words.

Other than that, though, I really like these new pieces you're dishing out. Great stuff...

Did some tiny updates earlier.
Fixed up a few things.

I really liked the green.
I'm not sure if anyone else likes it though.
If not then I'll have no problem changing it back to red.

Sorry for the double post.
But I wanted to know if the red or green was the best.
So I changed the update to the red palette.

This is really sweet...as far as colors go...I personally like the green better, but the picture's called "omfg", and red generally connotates anger and the like.....but the green gives it an almost...gameboyish feel....donno what your going for.
I wish there was more to critique, but it seems it's all been covered......oh, one foot is a different length than the other...donno if did that purposely or not.
Cool stuff though, keep on pixelin' man.
