Title: About pro motion
Post by: gliding on December 05, 2006, 10:22:35 pm
Since I'm unable to buy pro motion, is there any other program like it that has the single colour edit feature?

thanks,

Thanks,

I have photoshop and Graphics gale. ( I was aware of that function for both). The only thing is that I like how single colour edit was implemented in pro motion; hoping there was something similar to that.

what do you mean single color edit? please explain...

do you mean the stencil feature? [Shift + T] or the auto replace a single color with another color [select pipette tool {,} - then click on the color you wanna replace with Alt held down?)

graphics gale has the single color edit function
in mode of over 256 colors, u have to use a custom pallete to use the feature
and in 256 or less its tehre by default
personally i feel gale is better than promotion
coz gale has layers, promotion doesnt
gale has many color modes, promotion sticks to 256 colors
gale has animation, promotion also does
so in other words, gale has a lil more than promotion along with everything else it has ( maybe something might be left out like the tile things and stuff )

i.e. the stuff that pro pixellers use to create 'things' with...

I don't wanna bash GG - cos I've only had about an hours play with it and found it a bit awkward to say the least... but i'm sure given time I'd find it's flavour and possibly grow to enjoy it... But having said that... If I want 8bit editing capabilites P-motion all the way - if I want 16bit and beyond then Photoshop wins hands down... GG is a halfway house IMO... but if you like it then go ahead and use it... but those "tile things and stuff" that you refer to are the bits that we use professionally to make "stuff" with... ;)

by single colour edit, do you mean the real time colour shifting where you click on a colour and it is changed automatically in the piece? Or do you mean the edit where you change the colour and then have to put it in by hand? If the former, please show me how lol.

In photoshop you can change a single colour like Pro Motion.

Image > Adjustments > Replace Color..

If now thats what you mean... O_o..

for the real time color shifting
first either be in 256 color mode or less
now in the image pick any color with right click
if its in the palette it will be highlighted there and now if u move the sliders of the color chooser, the color will change in the image as well
u can do it in more than 256 color mode as well
its just that the color u pick up should be in the palette
if u dont understand anything pm me and i will explain

Wow. I just discovered something in graphics gale. If you draw out the pallete in the top left corner then go from 256 --> 16 bit --> 256
your pallete will be in the order you drew it in. Sorry if thats obvious to everyone but just figured it out. Really useful if decide to increase
number of shades of one color later in piece (and want pallete in proper order).
