Personally I'm gonna get the Wii... but only when I get back from my years global travels... (Leaving in Jan [weyhey!!! :lol:])
I was just wondering if we had any fan boys around here and what the demographics likely to be when it comes down to consoles...

Will be getting a Wii.
Apart from being a Nintendo fanboy, so far it's the only one I really want to play with.
Of course if anyone is willing to get me either a ps3, or an xbox360 (or both :p), I will give it love.

I'm interested in the Wii, because it looks fun (Wii tennis/bowling) and I want to play the new Zelda.
Although my priority at the moment is either a big lcd tv and/or monitor and/or notebook for christmas.
Not a fanboy, not much of a gamer. (I bought a ps2 and a few games but never got round to playing them, a few years ago)

I voted all 3 but I will get the Wii first (preordered) and the PS3 and 360 will have to wait a bit longer, at least 1 year. There will be good games on both of them and if I just buy the PS3 for MGS4 and whatever the ICO team comes up with on it, so be it. At the moment they are too expensive tho and/or there are not enough games on them. The 360 already has a few fun games. Dead Rising is fun and I played some Gears of War with Ken and I have to say that was massive fun, really adrenaline powered gameplay.

Wii and 360. In that order, too. I've always wanted a 360. You hear me?! ALWAYS!! But the damn things seemed so unrealiable, and no game worthy of buying seemed to come out in a good while, so I promised myself not to buy a 360 until they release a new version. And FINALLY it's on its way. Luckily, Halo 3 seems to be taking its sweet while, as well, so I can probably manage a Wii early next year (I was wanting one for christmas, but judging by the demand over here, that's not gonna happen), and the 360 can wait until summer.

already have a 360, its okay, only ever really play geometry wars and gears of war on it, I think the original XBOX was a pretty good console when you have it modded.

I have a 360. probably wont buy a PS3 due to overpriced piece of shit. wii looks ok just seems like its more for kiddies. I like the feature that lets you download old nintendo games.
360 though, atm its the best console around. Gears of War is the best game I have EVER played. waiting on halo 3 now :D

I'll be getting a PS3, but not for some time. I'm waiting until it gets hacked open so I can install NetBSD, or prefereably OpenBSD on it, and turn it into a half gaming console half workstation.

That's true. I had trouble when getting mine. The first few malfunctioned after a few days. We had, like, 2 others before it finally decided to work properly forever. It was kinda annoying.
I voted for Wii60. Wii doesn't have any games I want yet [Zelda doesn't interest me >: (], but there's bound to be something good soon enough. I'll get it when it's cheap. I already have a 360, and it's really good. For me. Oblivion is awesome, Dead Rising is quite good, Gears of War is amazing, etc. Yeah. This seems like it's gonna be a pretty good few years in gaming, what with 3 good consoles and regurgitation of old games.

Oh you kidder, no one can resist the siren's call of a Wii! I mean, if they could then my world of delusion would be destroyed and my last purpose in life along with it and I'd fall into a deep state of depression and slowly rot in the spot I had stopped and froze from the news, "Kon doesn't want the Wii."
Uh yeah, I'll get the Wii eventually. The others are too pricey. Sony failed me horrible back with the original Playstation (never saved, didn't fix, lost a customer) and I don't really care about Blu-Ray. Then my first Xbox never got much play out of it other than DVDs, so I figure the same would happen with the 360.

hmmm I really dont know right now but MGS4 really tempts me to get PS3, and the Wiimote to get the Wii, so I put both.
I'll probably get the Wii, if it does alright.
The only complaint I've heard about it is that you have to play along with it, meaning that if the game asks you to put the Wii at your hips and do a hula-hula, you might easily cheat by wagging your wrists....
I think this could potentially ruin it, if it ends up coming down to wrist movements.

well, conceit, that is also down to you. of course you could do most with just wrist movement. but playing wario ware with other people multiplayer and everyone just moving their wrists, bleh. HAVE FUN, MOVE YOUR ASS!

but you know....in the long run if games cant really be designed to exploit all of the functions it could beat the purpose of the thing, and it could come down to a few well-known and formulized wrist movements....I'm just talking from ONE thing that worried me from something I read someone say anyway, so dont mind me XD

Wii~! When they get more in stock >.>; Not even a Wiimote left in the place. Maybe that nice red or silver one will show up by the time my birthday rolls around. Besides, it has Gunstar Heroes and Starfi on VC.
Have Legend of Zelda and they will come.
Hell, even my mom wants to play a game on it, and she hasn't touched a controller since we all played Sonic Shuffle on Dreamcast. (She's in love with the Rabbids).

I camped out for a Wii. It was worth it. Zelda is amazing, but I play Wii Sports more than anything.
The future of the Wii is crazy. Nintendo really blew the lid off.. for reals. The rush that you get playing games is unreal. I could never get into the Call of Duty series (or shooters in general) until I had to physically shake a Nazi off of me. It'll be minigames for awhile, but shit, once 2nd and 3rd generation games come around? Nothing will be able to touch it.
Besides, it has Gunstar Heroes and Starfi on VC.
Actually, the opening lineup of VC games is pretty lackluster (for the US, anyways). But if they're really going to release 10-15 titles a month, it'll get impressive quickly.

I'll probably get a PS3 and/or a 360. PS3 has the possibility to run Linux which means it will probably be one hell of a HD media player once the right apps get ported, and it also gives me the opportunity to do some development for it. Unfortunately it seems like there might not be RSX (graphics hw) access from Linux, so it might not be so exciting to develop for.
The 360 has the XNA Developers club or whatever it is called, full access to the hardware, but you have to pay $100 a year for it, and can't distribute your programs.
Wii is not interesting for me.

Sdw: Wouldn't it be more interesting to develop for an actual computer anyways? You can distribute your programs all you want and more people would use them.

Although Halo 3 and Halo Wars make the 360 really tempting sometime next year and I bet MGS4 will be awesome one the PS3, but I think I'll wait till the next gen of consoles to come out and get the previous ones when they're actually affordable.

Got the wii on black friday at like noon...I have no idea how, but they had like 3 extras that came in an hour before..oh well, lucky me :crazy:
don't think i'll be getting another console for a while.

Even though I am open to what the Xbox360 and PS3 is doing, nothing has yet to catch my interest. Sure MGS4 will be great, but not worth the sum of the console. Not yet at least. I have to say I've been terribly disappointed with the 360's lineup so far. Mostly fps and racing games that are just graphic fests rather than fun to play. I remember I tried Ninety Nine Nights a while ago and thought the army crowds and graphics looked fantastic, but after 5 minutes of the same 3 hit combo I just put the controller down. The only thing I'm interested in for the 360 is the downloadable game Castle Crashers, which is not worth buying the console for.
I think there will be problems for the Wii here though. Not because of the console itself, but because of the biased press. Everyone is trying to sell Playstation gadgets (most likely because they cost more) and never pus up ads for Nintendo or other smaller products. They've labled the the PSP as "the most popular gaming console in the world" countless times, even though sales records have shown that even the old Gameboy Advance has better sales. They did the same with the Deamcast a while back. Right now, the 360 is the ad winner since the PS3 is still pending. Even though the Wii is due in 7 days here, I have only seen a single ad. Two full pages of 360, PSP and Ps2, and in a liiiiiiiiittle box in the left corner, there was a Wii, and the Zelda boxart with the tag "Zelda. Wii"
As an extra bonus, the import prices here are ridiculous. The Wii won't be costing 249$ here. Nope. They've kicked it up to 450$. I can't imagine what the PS3 is going to cost. They'd better put out test booths to demonstrate the controll after all this. :mean:

360 first without a doubt, the only reason I haven't bought one yet is that there's the offchance someone might get me one for Christmas :p </excessive optimism>
After that, probably the Wii. If blu-ray sticks around I might eventually get a PS3 for that capability as well as some of the games, but right now there's nothing pending for it that excites me. Plus the Wii is... the freakin Wii. I was a little skeptical of it at first, and then I played the demos. Enough said.

It was mostly aimed at my city. Though it goes for Norway in general, I can't say I know how the other cities handle their press.

$450? I just barely believe you! It's bad enough that every consoe's price in dollars gets directly "translated" to euro ($250 = €250 when it comes to consoles), but... $450?

Wow, yeah, I figured as much. The dollar has gone WAY down in relation to our currency. One USD is 6.7 SEK now. Around five years ago, one dollar used to be 10 SEK. In fact, last time I looked, mere weeks ago, it was at 7.3 SEK. Alright, you just can't compare anymore... The KR has gone way up and the dollar has gone down it seems...

I don't know if I'll actually buy any of these, but if I did buy one, it would be the Wii. I had a chance to play over in one of the other dorms where they had 3 Wiis set up with 2 nice flatscreens and a projector. After 3 hours of Wii sports, I was hooked. It's just fun to play, and that's what I like in my games.

I got the Wii and the 360. The Wii rivals the others in quality and crushes them in price, and seeks out originality in ways the others didn't. So it's my favorite. But the reason I got the 360 stands strong: Bioshock ( http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/793/793105/vids_1.html ) watch them both in the highest definition you can.

my 360 cost £275 - thats about 550$, and games cost about £40 so that $80 dollars. Although the UK is an expensive country to live - so i guess its not too bad compared to what people earn and the prices of other things.

I just swung by the gamestores today and asked about the Wii.
It appears the *only* thing people will be able to buy before Christmas is a Wii/Zelda bundle. Separate consoles won't be sold until after New Year!
The best part? This has kicked the price up from 450$ to 680$! That's thrice the original price! At most, Zelda would only cost an additional 70-100$. What the hell is going on here?!

I've been checking around town for any info on where it will be best to camp/go in the morning. On the news, they've said that the stores only have about 25 consoles each for un-reserved sales. After asking, I found that they've only got 9. I don't know if this is Norwegian marketing or supply problems, but point is it's going to be hard getting one.
As for import, it's sadly not much of an option. The high price is because of import tax, and getting a package that big over the border takes a pretty big hit on your wallet. At least so much that it's not beneficial. The box would have to be pretty cheap in the first place.
They had one out for playtesting at this one store. Wii Sports. Didn't get to play because two kids were hogging the controlls, but I have to say it's looking pretty. Glad they weren't showing Zelda though. Spoilers are hard enough to avoid at this point.

we got the wii yesterday, just now my brother was playing bowling on wiisports with his friends, one of them left for a while and came back with a wii and two more remotes ;D
its just so awesome, feels great to sit back in the couch and rest your arms where ever you want really, doesnt sound like much but its great

OK, so yesterday I got up at 5.30 in the morning and took the bus into town. I had checked ahead of time and got to the gamestore first. The larger stores had around 30-60 people in line allready, so I was really just lucky. I was guessing they were opening at 8. After an hour in the rain another guy joins the line. Nobody opens. Another hour goes by and the guy contacts his friends to join the short line. Another random guy joins. The third hour passes and the guy's friends arrive. We are now 6. After standing there four hours they finally open the store. We all walk in and I fish out my cash. "We only have 6 consoles left." They said 9 the day before, but no matter, I'm first in line. "... and they are all going to the first pre-orders."
None of us got a single console. All the other stores were now sold out. I couldn't feel my toes. I am slightly ticked off...
And in other other news, I found the price they are tagging on the PS3. 1186$ ...

at the end of the day... do you really need one that desparatly?
I know that I'm waiting a whole year before I grab myself one? why? - 1. cos I'm going travelling & 2. because we'll be into the 2nd wave of games by then... 3. no doubt they'll do different colors (I'm not a fan of the Ipod white myself - rather black) 4. undoubtedly next year they'll get even cheaper...

Heh, in all honesty I don't need one at launch. Never did the queue thing before, so I though I'd give it a go. The people had actually informed me that they had 9 consoles for unreserved sales the day before, so when they changed their minds all of a sudden, I can't help feeling a little cheated.
The reason I would prefer to get it early is really because of spoilers. I got Majoras Mask for the N64 late, and by that time I allready knew the entire plot due to people making pictures of it or showing off all the details in an orgy of screenshots and text. People have already begun posting pictures at Deviantart and whatnot and it's just a matter of time before something crucial in Twilight Princess is revealed. I'm not so hooked that I can't live with that, but it's always a bit bitter.

If any not know, is 100% compatible with gamecube games, and with the emulator of the wii can play to N64,nes,snes,megadrive and turbografx games!!. All thanks to the VC(virtual console), you need pay to download this old games with "wii points" but well... virtual console is being hacked and you can play F-Zero of snes with a SD :) .
I think the Wii Will Win the battle of the next generation of this, and for the moment the uds sold are more big than the ps3, for the moment:

For the moment not have much good titles, but well is more fun, and think the PS3 lost this battle. PS1 and PS2 wins at N64 , and gamecube/XBox respectively.

The new Rayman game looks funny as hell. That would probably be the only thing to prompt me to get a Wii. Not much of a Zelda fan. Actually, I haven't really seen any other eye openers for the Wii yet.
I would also get an Xbox360, just for Gears of War. However, FPS tend to run thin after beating them.
PS3 hasn't exactly caught my eye with ANYTHING yet. Looking at some of their games, though, they definitely got some eye candy goin' on.
But so far, I would probably only get a Wii, not for the graphics, but for fun. Looks like a great time waster with some friends and beer...and football helmets. That is so nobody breaks a nose from the nun-chuks...

Rayman is a lot of fun. Red Steel is disappointing. Zelda is amazing, but if you're not a Zelda fan, then.. yeah. Excitetruck is a shitload of fun.. really mindless, ridiculous fun, whether you like racing games or not.
Honestly, though, I spend more time playing Wii Sports than all of the others combined. It never gets old.
The Virtual Console lineup is pretty decent now, too. Playing back through Gunstar Heroes and Sonic and Mario 64 has been a blast.

I really wanna get excite truck, Ive wanted nintendo to make an over the top rally arcade game for a while, then they went and made excite truck.
sure its a bit undercooked, but it looks to deliver all I wanted them to do or atleast try

Right now I'm hooked with wii sports.
I have zelda too, but so far I haven't put much attention into it.
Next title I will pick will be rayman, as I think those bunnies look really neat (and well, it looks fun overall, but mainly because of the bunnies >:0 ).
