Title: spherical spin mockup attempt
Post by: drax013 on April 20, 2018, 07:07:15 pm
I am still very new to the basics of animation and can use all the feedback anyone is willing to give.  This was an attempt at making a soft round object bounce a little and spin, throwing off a bit of goo as it goes. It is a VERY rough attempt! I am just trying to get the basics of this motion and I know this isn't right, but I am hoping I am on the right track.

I'd round off the shapes a bit more and have them be a bit "stickier", for lack of a better term. Slime should be blobby!

Thanks MysteryMeat! that is an excellent suggestion and I will definitely use it when I do make this using the slime you guys have helped me with  ;D. That being said this animation was intended as practice for this motion and wanted to make sure that I am on the right track for a 3/4 view ish spinning object. Also do you think I should move this thread over to the pixel art section for better feedback?

I also want to add that when it reaches the top, the core shouldn't just stick in place for a few frames. The vertical position should move along an ease in/out curve and stay on its highest only for a single frame.

Second thing, you need follow through (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OxphYV8W3E). As the blob goes up, you correctly made some of its mass lag behind. But when the core gets to the top, the gooey stuff around it (that's lagging behind) is still going to move up and take a few frames to stop, overshooting the core.

Thank you! I will be working more on this at a bit later date and will attempt to implement your suggestions  ;D
