Title: Is this ghostly bow appropriate?
Post by: Shanenopolis on January 31, 2018, 06:23:13 am
So I made these ghostly weapons for a client, and I can't help but feel like the bow is vaguely sexual. Do you guys get it too? Should I change it? Or am I just imagining things?

just an idea, but what about making it seem more like it's actually firing an arrow? (https://i.imgur.com/HLKcBBJ.gif)

seems less like it is just going in and out of the bow in a sexual manner.

I'm seeing it too, and I think that edit CFK did actually makes it worse xd

I would say it depends on what you are going for, to be honest I am not sure what these sprites are going to be used for, are they icons to be used in some sort of menu or disembodied spirits floating around the scene? The only thing I can suggest is maybe reducing the movement on the arrow, having the bow and arrow in more of a relaxed stance as if looking for targets then stringing it all the way back when it is ready to fire on a target.

Lol yeh, that arrow looks eerily flacid.

Lol -- I think you're right...!

There is no angle I can see that would not make this look sexual in some way.

There are only a few options here that could help:

1) let the arrow float up and down (separate motion from the bow) with the string not moving while the bow floats as it is now
2) no movement at all on the bow
3) tell your client to make a ghostly joke about pr0n when the player sees the arrow icon for the first time because no matter how you move it, if the arrow continues to move *with* the bow (in the same direction), the player's mind will always think the two are together rather than the bow *and* the arrow...
