I plan on animating this a little bit by making her move her arms down and opening up her hands, but I need to get the look down first. It's pretty basic, but I want to bump up the shading a bit; the face and hair are based on a smaller sprite I made a while back scaled up, but the rest was pretty much just copying it from the reference, http://firecloak.net/tut/yang/yang.jpg
It's going to cut off at around the waist, so everything up from that needs a second look.

It looks a bit messy.
I added a darker skin color and cleaned up some shapes and stuff (only in the face)

Hello there! Here's a few edits I tried to apply for the upper torso, with a kinda step by step?
Hopefully it looks good, and provides some insight-

Played with it a bit, using aspects from both. Now I'm trying to make the other frame, and the idea is that it follows this GIF, but I can't get the perspective right for the arm: http://sakura-fraust.tumblr.com/post/165873857474

Perspective attempt #1. The arms feel kinda blocky... I tried using some posing software to replicate the pose, but it still leaves a lot open.

Heyyo- Nice edits so far.
I feel the arms themselves feel alright, however the hands are way too small to convey the perspective you're trying to illustrate.
(Minor thing i noticed about the arm on the left, it looks a tiny bit thinner than her other arm)
Side note: Not a necessary change but a suggestion nonetheless; In the GIF you're referencing, the girl has her arms touching her sides, whereas here its got a spacing. The arms here still look good and natural, but that was just something to point out :p

I tried making the hands a bit bigger, and the arm was because I tried making the shading on the our-left side brighter. I've toned that down.
It's a bit different, as I never planned on a sustained flame. Graphics Gale messed up the whites in her eyes, but this is how the animation looks so far. I plan on improving the fire effect, but it might need some more secondary motion in the hair and clothes.
(And yes, her eyes are red. They do that. I originally intended for a blink transition from lilac to red, but this is how it ended up.)
