also male 18, but may I ask what this has to do with Demography? Unless your question has more to do than only age.

In reality, male 19, but I put 20 on the poll because it's not far from.

KBS, isn't a demography a way to... split up a population into different groups, or something? That's pretty much what the word means, right?

Well, demography is pretty much the study of population statistics, so the "theme" is rather broad. (In this case it is only age, but common studies are about death/birth rate, marriages etc).

Who cares if theres women or not, pixeling is pixeling, if you want to see women, go outside!

anyway, it's easy to spot a female pixeler, because most of them are korean.

The other prefer to style cats and gothic related stuff.

This is pretty much like a Smurf village. Not a big surprise. I hear that young males are most likely to use forums in general. There seems to be a difference in trends on why the sexes get into pixeling; males getting into game art and females into the doll/socialization aspect, but that's just a generalization.

I'm happy to see anybody who is good natured and loves pixels here.

Young people are more inclined to have poor spelling, but its not a rule, Fry. An intelligent fourteen year old is almost indistinguishable as far as I can tell. Twelve year olds however, I have yet to find a consistently unable to tell age of pre-teen.

Prepubescents and  teens are incredibly differant, mentally and physically.

Were mostly talking about simple spelling mistakes with three/four/five letter words, no full stops, full stops after question marks, no capitol letters which the average joe has no problem with, it's just laziness. Stuff you learn in what... first grade?

Okay, on with the poll!

Tisha and Schu haven't voted yet apparantly. I actually thought there would be more female pixellers too. It's all kind of funny though, as I'm member of an art exchange forum too, where there are only 10 or so males and 100-something females.

Another thing I didn't expect is that there are so many young people here (amount of males 14-16 and males 17-19), as there are very mature conversations and C&C on the forum.

And Helm, I thought you were much older than me! :o

Tisha and Schu haven't posted here, but there's some other woman pixellers I've seen on these boards (or Pixelation's blue version heh) like Wayuki, Enichan, Noadi, Emlan and Blue (Chilly I believe). There may be more than that, but it seems the forum is mainly male dominated.

.........how does that connect to the results...exactly? =o just curious

I'm not sure... but in my experience it has. Largely, I used to contribute to dolling forums when I was younger. I went back to a dolling forum awhile ago and realize how insanely retarded people can be about everything on dolling forums. I ended up getting banned for people being too pissy at my critique of their work. They claimed I was hurting their feelings on their oh-so-dedicated art pieces (when they had just copied, mirrored, and pasted). Some of them were fairly decent but the majority of them were incredibly ridiculous about it, and insisted on making me a hotbutton issue and creating drama just from me simply critiquing everyone's work, asking me who died and made me God.  ::) Dolling forums go to every length to make sure no one's offended by anything or pissed off so much so that they create drama but how much of a fuss they make over things. I think pixel art forums still care about pissing off people, but they don't assume that someone's going to have a nervous breakdown just cause someone's a douche to them.

Girls from the ages of 12-17 and women from ages 30-40 dominate dolling communities, and there's too much drama and idiotic girlishness for me, personally. Compare that to the exact opposite of here where males largely compromise the Pixel Art community. The only thing that really gets out of hand here is maybe undeserved assholeness... and it's pretty much not that common.

In my experience, forums comprising of males, whatever age, are considerably more mature, laid back, and less idiotic than forums comprising of females (where everyone giggles). It probably has a lot to do with how girls and boys are socialized from a young age. I find that most dollers don't take their art as seriously as male pixel artists do, and if they do take it seriously it's emotional, not necessarily maturely serious. It may be due to the age range but honestly, I think it's a prime example of how males and females are socialized when it comes to art. I could write a paper about it. XD

Of course, this IS a generalization and, like any generalization, it's not 100% true for everyone but... it's largely the vibe I've picked up from the many forums I've both frequented AND managed.

An 18 year old male I am. Soon to be 19 though. First came to pixelation with a different nickname, before the forum went offline and became pixelopolis. That was the time that I improved the most, so I owe a lot to this place.

Heh... I'm sick... can you believe that every single time the title of this topic is bumped at the top of the list I cannot but read it as "pixelation demo-graphics"?

But hey, any who want to change teams are definetly welcomed.

Lel, I'd be up for it!

Until then, 19 years old (GOD DAMN IT I ALWAYS WANTED TO BE A CHILD PRODIGY) and equipped. MALE.

And yes, demographics could as well be demo scene graphics ;<

Actually I've the word "Tit" in my backname translated from dutch (in dutch tit= tiet, in my backname it's spelled Tiedt. Now that explains a lot, Oh I feel so ashamed for my backname, haha  ;)

So I guess I always had the titties, figurative spoken. Man, I wonder why I keep saying stuff like this

There are a lot of successful pixel art forums where females of that age range... just depends on what you would deem "successful".

I actually wish there was a 74 year old woman here. Especially if she was absolutely amazing at pixel art. That would be bloody awesome and she'd be an extreme minority. Honestly, who could best that?

Honestly, who could best that?

How about a blind pixel artist who had no arms or legs, and created his work by running his tongue across a device that outputs pixels as raised dots on a matrix, and typed in the RBG values and XY pixel coordinates by hitting a number pad with a pointer strapped to his forehead. And remember, he's blind.
