If you upload your art at 1x zoom (no pre-zooming), it'll be easier for people to make edits xP The forum has a zoom feature so pre-zooming serves no purpose.

Don't try to draw individual strands of hair, that's ineffective even in high-res art. Instead, focus on drawing locks of hair. Hair clumps into locks, which act essentially as tapering ribbons (of sizes and shapes that vary depending on hair type and style).

Also consider 3d volume, depth and direction of light. If you add reflections all "willy nilly", it'll still look weird. Of course that goes for more than just the hair.
