Title: Having issues with things

The two issues I have with this the lighting and the position and yet I can't fix it, Any advice?

I would use more contrast between the colours, so that the shadows are darker. Here is an edit I made but I am really bad at following the light source and shading etc. It is not a very good example, but I hope it gives you idea of what I mean about more contrast.
