Title: Posting a gif question
Post by: RunninBlood on May 21, 2017, 06:36:47 pm
So I know this must be explained somewhere, but I cant find it..

What is the best and easiest way to post a gif on here? I tried to just put a gif file in imgur, and on imgur it was animated but here it was a broken image..

Help would be much appreciated :)

Make sure you use the URL of the image, not the page it's on. The URL will most likely end in .gif. If it doesn't, then it's probably not the image. By default, imgur's share URLs point to the page rather than the image.

You can get the image URL by right-clicking on the image and clicking "Copy Image URL" or going into the image's properties and getting it from there. You can also drag it to the address bar of your browser to get the URL.
If you have an imgur account, you can also get the image URL from the extended list of URLs that you get when you click on the image in your albums.

Okay, but does it still have to be within the img tags?

here i try it:

this is basically the link between [img] tags with in the last tag the appropiate / to say its closing..
then i use this link:
http://imgur.com/8722b8da-a8d9-4984-9d64-4ec9dc621b9c

but it doesnt work :(

Try the normal imgur link ending in a .png, so like imgure.com/fakeurl.png

Right click > copy image address
or
Drag image to new tab and copy address
or
upload as single image instead of album and rip url from embed

Okay, so there was a whole lot of text here again, but after some more searching I found it :)
what I did was in imgur choose 'Share options' then choose the BBCode (forums) option, that way i got this link:
http://i.imgur.com/tvVwY9m.gif

Any copy adress links got me really weird links for some reason :/

And it works, so thanks for all the help everyone :)

Aye. If you want it faster, you can manually type .gif at the end of the url.

with single images, if you right click and try to get the image address, there is sometimes an element on the page that hovers over the image, it is best just to get the image from any embed link or add i. and an extension
