Objective: Create the bloodiest, most gore-filled animation you can possibly conceive of. Bonus points for killing off your favorite character/avatar. If you want to pair up with someone and kill each other's characters off then feel free to do so. I'm dying to see what everyone comes up with. >:D

Less chatter, more blood splatter!! Err.. oh, finally. Nice one I Am Uh! Even if it isn't the best, it is the first and only one so far, and it is kind of cute and bloody!
Critiques... maybe the blood should splatter and look more flat and starbursted?? Maybe some blood flies up on the stone/face thing?

Hey, Pep, was Eartbound 3 an influence on your avatar, by any chance? The way you've used angles in it, the shading and the proportions remind me of it a lot.
And I hope you aren't going to tkae these challenges lying down. These are like an assaults on your manhood. Are you teeny weeny or mucho grande(like the drink)?

I'm not going to be able to work on it for a while, but the idea is all there you can see. I borrowed a previous sprite and shifted some pixels around, but the animation will be all new pixels.
Camus/Conceit, if you're still around, I hope you join in. I loved the 1 colour blood gushing/splatters you did a year or two back.

kokew00t, i'd suggest you spend more time on it. At the moment i don't feel that could even be called pixel art. :n:

And that's what Michelangelo said when showing flawed sketches to his colleagues. :-\ If it 'sucks', work on it some more. I for one, would like to see some more detail on the stick man, and maybe a more fluent bloodflow rather than spray-dots.

I've never played earthbound 3 before. I suppose you could say it's an indirect inspiration. You could also probably cite Gunstar as an indirect inspiration as well... but at that size, it's not difficult to create similar characters if you're using certain colors or style.
Yes, I do intend to participate. I hate making excuses, but I have been busy and fighting off a cold. I intend to, ahem, 'respond'. I've been sketching scenes on paper so I don't forget.

Very cool, Adam. It looks very simple, yet it's so smooth. I think I learned something new from looking at its frames. Now I jsut need to organise my time better and put it to use in my animation

I really like that animation! One thing that bothers me though, is the part where his head falls down. The un-splattered area behind him doesn't really work for me, and looks more like a paper cutout. This is because if blood were to go everywhere like that, but not behind his head, it would mean the blood was splattered from infront of him, and therefore his face would be covered aswel.. i guess. Also there is no spillage there either. :hehe: Also, might look cooler if his head fell face down.

What exactly is happening to that guy? Judging by the hole I'm going to guess you meant for him to be shot. My question is where did the bullet end up (shouldn't it make a nice hole in the "glass" or whiz by us maybe. Also you don't really have much blood infront of the whole which is probably where most of it would come out. It would splatter but I imagine you'd have some directly infront. And how come the guy isn't moving before or after the shot? Shouldn't he at least fall over or show some reaction to a bullet tearing threw his brain?

Haghagaha!! That's ace. I'm sure feron would agree. The cleaver is slow when spinning through the air, perhaps it's the browser slowing the frames down to a tenth of a second..?

Hey Feron, glad you like it, "That, my friends, is the minority vote". The cleaver is made in 3ds max with 'ink and paint' materials applied.
Also, the goat animation was put together in game maker 6. So I'm trying out different stuff to speed up how long it takes to make an
animation.

He should be punched in the belly with some kind of knife and his belly should open and all his guts should come out :D

The punch should be excessively fast/powerful and knock his head right OFF. Then his body should filp backwards head over heels gushing blood before collapsing into a heap on the ground.

Psst, it was mortal kombat with the Fatalitys, which is midway, not capcom...
Anyway, the animation is ok, it just needs some fixing with the fact that the falling animation is used for his lean back, and doesn't make sense.

i know mortal combat used the word... but it's still a fatality. K.O. would be more like capcom, i guess.
Anyway, capcom has a few games where the player falls backward in really slow motion after the final move. that is just what i was getting at.

I only animated and added the effects, didn't change or add any new pixels (in the pixel art-sense).
