Title: A non-pixel question that I only ask here because...
Post by: Daimoth on April 17, 2017, 09:45:52 pm
... This board knows its shit more than any other I've found, as well as people who have industry connections and knowledge of other fields. Apologies in advance if this ruffles feathers.

Since flirting with pixel art (some (https://www.google.com/search?q=daimoth+pixel+art&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi80PO-uqzTAhVN7mMKHej0DSoQ_AUICCgB&biw=1412&bih=886) people liked my stuff, I think) I think my calling as an artist might be GUI work.

So... is there a community like this for GUI stuff? To be clear, I'm not talking about a community specific to pixel art GUI. I'm talking about a community that might appreciate beautiful, intricate graphic interfaces, regardless of color count (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/JoshKing/media/d2%20gui%20centerpanel%20all.png.html?sort=3&o=47). Not just translucent squares with rounded corners, which seems to be the trend atm in AAA games.

Does such a thing exist?

Some years ago, I think you would have found the Winamp skinning community.

I think physical UI is going out of favor. Hearthstone seems like a one time resurgence, though who knows, it might spark an influx of physicality that surges it back into popularity a few years from now.

I think that community is very niche and you might have a better time finding a lead on 4chan maybe (or on some chinese website, they usually have communities for niche topics since their population is enormous).
