Title: Blown Away
Post by: AlienQuark on October 21, 2006, 04:26:46 pm
Did this for Punaji Contest, but it's also a first for me, in the sense that i've NEVER has a woman as the main subject of the piece so I'm kinda happy with the result. I need help deciding on if these colours are working right now to portray.

I want it to be very kinetic, the white clouds need to look like they're in motion and furious, but the whole thing needs to look serene overall. HELP PLZ. :-X

I really like this piece and i wish it was colored!
the only thing that bug me is the sky, you might put them littel higher so things doesn't mess up with the other details!
Keep it up  :y:
P.S: the wind could be a littel stronger.

the clouds look like waves to me.
probably due to the claw shape of them. I think clouds would be more rounded, especially if their are billowing.
the lady looks kinda stiff, straight.. which is fine, but not sure if it matches the kinetic style you're looking for.
could maybe make her leaning into the wind or being blown with it, i dunno

looks like a girl standing in the wind, however I dont see how her hat is still on, and how her hair is blowing A LOT.  its extremly light, I had to zoom 3x to see it...my monitor gamma is set at highest.

The bird is adorable, hah. I suggest you lose the 'wave end' of the most prominent cloud. Just take it out and make the shape less claw-like and threatening and you've got clouds again, or at least dust devils, not a wave. I'm eager to see how this develops.

Seen it already on PUNAJI ^-^ It's beautiful, no one can deny it...

I thought that the clouds you're are speaking of were ice and that the feeling you were trying to capture a mix of loneliness and coldness (when someone doesn't get along with others because he/she believes to be superior to them, you know?). So, fix the shapes. And MORE contrast please.

I love the style of this, But've to agree that the clouds have the wrong shapes, for me it looks more like a tree, or a big wave :y:

Okay, to explain why it's light and why the clouds are claw like:

1) It was light because my original idea was supposed to be a girl in a snowstorm, but i'm both bad at girls and 3/4 view stuff for the most part, so it changed into a side view. I want to keep it light, but i will also attempt to darken it to be more readable all around

2) As for the clouds being claw like, I wanted them to look swirly and all monstrous and whatnot, which is why i had them come back to face the girl.

So I still need help on the top one. Thanks again for taking a look.
