I was doodling with the pencil tool and I came up with this. This was more of an anatomy study to me. No refrence pic, im thinking of leaving it as a sketch in black and white. What do yall think?

EDIT

Finished the body.

Feel free to color edit whatever. ;)

Rwoar the anatomy is VERY wrong x.x Sadly I can't really say how to fix it, but here are the things I noticed:
Arms are too short.
Leg that's on the rock needs more of a bend otherwise it looks too short.
The body is square, should ahve more shape to it =(
The stance seems to be a bit unnatural.
Figure has no weight to it. No center of gravity.
Forearms have horrible muscle defenition.
Loincloth is positioned improperly.
Draw the hand! Don't avoid it! Get some practice!

Sadly I suck at anatomy as well so I don't know how to fix it. Just wait until one of the good artists here actually shows you how x.x Until then best thing I can advise is, just look for tutorials on anatomy and stuff. It should help you fix joints and muscle defenitions in some places, as well as draw the hands.

Nice concept overall!
there are some anatomy issues all over such as:
the pose looks uncomfortable, like the whole torso is a straight line!
the legs are huge for the upper body.
in the arm the two biceps doesn't match
There might be some other bugs but as for now this is what really catch my eye!
i suggest you start drawing the main lines always and concentrate on them and ignore the details until your aware of the main shape already!
Hope this helps you and keep it up  :y:

I did a similar piece a while ago, which can check out here (http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/13860.htm). The anatomy on mine is be no means perfect either but maybe it could give you some ideas.

tomas, nothing offensive but yours had a bit more anatomy issues then mine. And I swear I didn't copy off yours.

I agree with you all, the body seems a bit odd.

Can't say that's true...
Anyways. I wish I could find a good reference to study, but I can't after looking for a bit. But most things have already been said. Also, abs comprise of 6, not 8.

Anyways, not the best reference I could find, but it's something. I think they completely exaggerated a lot of things, but it should fit your warrior well:

Tiny legs? What? Most body builders? What?

I'd suggest going out and drawing from life with pencil and paper to get a feel for anatomy. A cross section like the link could help for reference on an existing drawing, but I wouldnm't recommend imitating it. Part of anatomy is knowing how a body in rest or motion can look natural.

Your anatomy needs work, regardless. The best thing to do is as bb tells you, plus get an anatomy drawing help-book and closely follow its exercises.

If you want, I can edit the lineart to fix it mostly, but that won't help you much unless you have a good theoretical foundation.

something of the sort may be a guide. The chest is underdeveloped for my little conan wannabe, got carried along by the original design which has a very  narrow chest compared to usual depictions of brutish barbarians.

its sumit to do with your characters have to be 8 heads high, and that determains where parts of the body should be. It does help.

great example Helm  :wah:

The head is just a good reference point for proportions.

This is something I would do personally to improve your peice.  Take a picture of yourself in that stance and learn from how your body is in place, such as your arms, legs, neck, ect...

That doesn't 100% matter, the point is understanding why the body looks that why and to study it.  The size of the OP to his picture doesn't matter, what does matter is that he knows the levels of his arms, ect... when in that stance.
