Hatchet needs work, looks like a flag. Try to make it more wedge shaped!
He also looks kind of dad-ish, I'd try to work the nose a bit more

I did a little edit in the nose and changed the ax (or flag) color for fun.

I liked the color so I'm keeping it. I changed the axe, face and also the wrist. What do you guys think?

I think the hatchet could use some more weight to it. I changed his pose to reflect that.

I widened his legs but more importantly I spread his arms out so it looks like he is supporting the weight of the hatchet.

If you're going for the goofy low-level enemy look the first version almost got it down, but not to the extent where I know that was intentional. So whatever direction you're going for you need to push that further and make it clear.

Here I made 2 quick variants. Aiming for a more menacing medium-level enemy, although I'm not sure which of these hits that goal, hopefully they demonstrate ways you can take this. Notice the general action, the shoulder tilt in relation to the hip tilt, and the facial expressions. You want this stuff to read instantly in a sprite, and again it depends on the direction you want.
