Title: Opinion on tiles
Post by: Nirwanda on November 19, 2016, 02:48:29 pm
I'm making a retro 4 color game, and I wanted some opinions:

Simple?

Or complex?

I advise against the checker floor, it's a bit too easy to lose the characters in it.

Yeah, that's what I thought, thanks. :)

You're already using 5 colours with the grey for the checkered one. The white floor certainly wouldn't work with all the white outlines, but I think blue might.

Your colour choices are curious to me: there is always an unpleasant amount of contrast. The simplest way to fix that is to change the black, but you should also involve the red/blue more.

I think your style is pretty cute and unique. But still I'm pretty sure you should use some more blue or red. As the above reply, I think using the blue floor can make your characters stand out a lot more since they are white-based.
