Title: Made a Kefka
Post by: ChillTaco on October 15, 2016, 02:39:12 am
Its ok, I guess. I was to lazy to animate. I was wondering, if I made a fan remake using this art style for pixel... would it be playable? I probably wont do it, because it would take years to do alone... I dont have transparency on for a reason.

Also, I dont know if I double posted. Sorry. Please feel free to judge it as an art, thats why I posted it. Also I dont mind someone fixing its problems.

So I made the squatting kefka in his game outfit. Its ok I guess. Didn't take nearly as long as the first one.I wish I could render his outfit better, I suck sometimes. Transparency is off cause his skin is difficult to see.

I made surprised Kefka. It dosnt look as good as the others, my art style kinda makes him look horrifying lol. Oh god. How am I going to get the inbetweens done. I used the original sprites as reference.

Oh boy, two Kefkas in one day? Son of a submariner thats faster than usual. Unfortunately it looks rather poopy. Its upside down kefka - you know... in case you couldn't tell.  Damn, That face looks so horrifying.

Alright, this one is the last one of the day. Its finger waggy Kefka. I get lame ok? Man, making assets  sure is boring, I just wonder what Ganons up to.

I just realized I might have just dumped a lot of kefkas. Oh well, I dont care. Ill just keep making them, they are all just single frames to a whole animation anyway - so technically they are just a single work lol.

If this is meant to be an animation, wouldn't it be better to draw the whole thing out to get the motion feeling good before spending time adding all that detail?

They're redraws of the sprite poses.

Whoa, cool, reply's... thank you. Didnt think I would get any of those here lol. I wasnt even getting so much as even a "you suck at pixels lol". Anyway, you are both right. these are remakes of original sprites - but they are also part of some animation. Im beginning the walking animation but ITS TAKEING SO LONG. I only got a little bit done today, about three steps lol. There will be more though... probably if I dont get lazy or sick of animating him.

It looks kind gross, I've never been to good at animation. Im aware somethings about it look retarded.

Don't start with the details in, start with a stick figure to get the motion down.
Keyframe it, then refine, then trace over your drawings a bit, then get it all looking as right as you can.
It's a multi-layered process and it's why you don't see people doing it with full rendered painterly art too often.
