Title: Call of Saregnar old-school RPG
Post by: Rhuantavan on October 14, 2016, 08:42:57 am
In a nutshell: Call of Saregnar is an old-school adventure RPG featuring a deep storyline, party-based first-person exploration, turn-based 3rd person tactical combat and 90's-inspired 3D graphics.

I've been working on this game for a couple of years now, recently switched to the Unity engine and been working on it for about an hour every day after my day job. It is still far from complete and I expect many years of development ahead. Like every indie developer my dream if of course to be working on it full-time, but that isn't going to happen anytime soon, thus the slow development.

If you want to read more about the project, you can find it on twitter (https://twitter.com/rhuantavan) or facebook (http://facebook.com/CallOfSaregnar/). I am also hosting a development diary on my Patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/rhuantavan).

Thanks for looking!

It's cool to see another fan of Betrayal at Krondor, but I think you have huge work to do. I especially wonder how you're going to do characters in this 3D view. I think you have a choice between
- Billboard characters (Doom or Daggerfall technology)
    * painted : take forever to draw
    * from photographic/video reference : requires many actors and costumes
- 3D models
   * pre-rendered is an option if you're much more skilled with Blender than with 3D engines
   * otherwise directly rendered in the 3D game environment

Hey guys, sorry for not replying in so long. I simply forgot to check this thread  :-[

Anyway, here are some new screens with a revamped and working UI.

About the characters, I'm doing them low-poly 3D (enemies), although I am not sure yet how to do all of the NPCs. I may simply leave them out of the 3D world and only have painted portraits for dialogue.
