Easily the most ambitious thing i've ever tried to do pixel art wise. To my surprise it was alot easier than hand drawing. Thought I'd get some opinions before I get in too deep.
Edit: Fixing the feet as we speak. They seem too thick for what i'm going for at the moment.
Edit 2: Finished it afterall. Thoughts?

i hope you aren't hiding his hands in his pocket in order to not draw them. the best way to learn to draw hands if to draw hands geddit
overall it looks nice if a little bland. i know you are going for an anime style but if this is just going to be a static piece you could add depth without using the anime feeling. try find some manga artists with great depth + anime style and look at how they draw and then apply their techniques to this piece.

Of course I am!
Lol but it wasn't entirely intentional. From the start I had planned on the pocketed hands. I had that pose visualized from the start. When I got to the hands I realized how convenient that was for me. :D
I'd appreciate it if anyone knew of any hand tutorials they could post.
In regards to the eyes I was trying to put my own spin on it with kind of a cartoony eye (Like in my avatar), and I had orignaly gone with something like it in the incomplete version. In the second I went for kind of lazier/sleepier version. Couldn't hurt to look it up regardless.

There we go. Gave hands a shot. Wasn't as bad as I thought. The fingers are supposed to be curled up.

His thumb looks kind a broken.
Try looking at some hand refferances to get some ideas of how fingers bend.
Here's a good site for hands.
